NO
MINI-MYRTH! |
|
John,
Two things:
1) I believe the voting public would GREATLY benefit from
repeatedly hearing that Kate Coyne-McCoy is a high-potential
candidate for a York administrative position, such as
Chief of Staff. I had chills running up and down my spine
when I heard you make that comment/prediction during the
11AM hour.
While watching the Decision 2002 Political Roundtable
on Ch. 10 this past Sunday, I was baffled as to why they
had this ignorant and liberally-biased analyst
on their panel. I wasn't sure if I was viewing a Mini-Myrth
doppelganger or a commercial paid for by the Democratic
Party! My speculation was laid to rest when the moderator
thanked the Mini-Myrth, a.k.a Ms. Coyne-McCoy. At the
risk of pulling an "Alec Baldwin", I will go
north to Massachusetts if Myrth takes the reigns and appoints
Ms. Coyne-McCoy. I fear the re-election campaign of 2006
when life-sized, cartoon-like Awful-Awful containers will
run free through the streets of Rhode Island
2) Re:Wendy, Are calls from specific phone numbers to
a pager logged on a customer's bill, akin to a cell phone
bill? Couldn't Wendy's claim to Sean Daly be verified
by having her request a record of her previous bill(s)
from her pager service provider during that time period?

Regarding
Separation of Powers |
|
Hello John
Enjoy your show! I'd like to make a comment and ask a
question. I am a registered voter from East Providence
disappointed to learn that both my Senator (DaPonte Dist.14)
and Representative (Coogan Dist.64) do not support Separation
of Powers according to a political advertisement in The
Providence Sunday Journal (Oct.27 issue). I have contacted
both to discuss this, but neither has responded as of
today. Even worse, neither has an opponent in the upcoming
election.
In November 2000, East Providence voters passed a referendum
on co-equal branches of government by a margin of almost
2 to 1 (65.2% voted "yes"). Unfortunately, this
did not sway my representatives in the last legislative
session.
That referendum and the one being placed on the ballot
this election regarding Separation of Powers have been
described as non-binding. Could you explain what the term
"non-binding" means? Also, any advice on how
to handle my reps in regards to the SOP issue would be
appreciated.
Thanks,
Jay

Dave
[The Newt Gingrich Wannabe] Rogers |
|
Please Dave,
Tell us where you stand:
1. You spout the pro-life position but insist you would
not vote to repeal Row vs Wade!
2. You say you stand behind the 2nd amendment, but say
you agree with P. Kennedy on issues of gun control.
3. You say you're for the little guy but would vote against
any increase in the minimum wage.
These Positions are not only in conflict but to use your
phrase from last nite "asinine". Rogers came
across as arrogant, sarcastic, and overbearing, I'll put
up with a little unstability any time.

manufacturing
jobs |
|
Hello John:
I'm an everyday
listener. I love your talk show, it keeps me informed
and up to date on all of the latest news and events. I
have a very serious problem that I would like to hear
you discuss one day on your show. I moved to Rhode Island
in 1980 because of a new job I found at Warren Pumps in
Peace Dale. This company closed down and moved out of
state to South Carolina. I'm presently working in Attleboro
Mass. and have been for about ten years. I work at Texas
Instruments. When I first started here there were about
7000 people at this location. At present there are about
2500. All of our jobs are leaving this country. the jobs
and machines are being sent to places like Mexico, China,
Japan and elsewhere. I'm a electrician/electronics technician.
I work in maintenance and have been in this field for
about 32 years. In about five years from now there will
be no manufacturing done at this site. All of the jobs
are leaving the country. What is wrong with our government?
Where are we to work? Are we all supposed to work at Mac
Donald's?
Thank you
for letting me vent

Debate
last night |
|
John,
Hope you enjoyed last nights debate. I did. This debate
shows why Myrth York will be a three-time loser. By the
time her performance audits will shed any light, we'll
be considering the next primary elections. Don's response,
pertaining to the sherriff's department was the teeth
of the "Big Audit." Looking forward to hearing you tommorrow.

Myrth just got my vote! |
|
Hey John:
I just thought I would let you know that I have just decided
to vote for Myrth. I just watched the last ten minutes
of the debate on Channel 10. {I hope they are going to
re-broadcast it before Election Day, as I would really
like to see the whole debate.} Gene Valicente asked each
candidate what they would do with the money from the tobacco
settlement. When I heard Myrth's answer to that one question,
I realized that SOMEONE finally GETS IT!! All these greedy
politicians (Carcieri being one of them, going by his
answer) want to use that money for anything and everything
under the sun -- except for the one reason that this money
was pursued in the first place - the money that everyone
pays for the health care of the people who smoke. She
said would use that money for health care! How very unique
- it's about time! She would also use it for smoking-cessation
programs! Educational programs to re-enforce the hazards
of smoking among the young! This is exactly how I have
always felt this money should be spent. Or, we could further
improve the State colleges (Paging Wendy Collins...),
still be paying for the health care of the people who
smoke, and all the same people will still be complaining
about it.
Just thought I would let you know that when I heard what
her answer concerning that one issue, I decided to vote
for Myrth York for Governor.
Always listening

Must
See TV - Kennedy / Rogers Debate! |
|
Without a
doubt last nights debate was the most entertaining thing
I've seen on TV in months! Patrick got show his constituents
and the rest of us what a dingbat he really is! Seeing
congressman Kennedy facing off with someone as intelligent
and articulate as Dave Rogers could only be compared to
deer in the headlights... Patrick danced to the left,
then to right...but ultimately just stood there with his
eye glazed over.
I only wish
that Karen Ziner of the Providence Journal would have
watched the same debate as me so that her article in this
mornings Journal could have more accurately reflected
what happened. She says at times it was a "slugfest",
This was no slugfest....Kennedy got his ass kicked plain
and simple!

Hi I.M.
Pucky is the principal architect of Rhode Island's veto-proof
budget. On another radio show last week he admitted to
a $250 million dollar deficit projection which probably
means it will be over $400 million.
When will the media lay the blame for our impending financial
mess at the feet of Harwood?????

tony
from north providence |
|
Hi, John.
While I can't claim to be your biggest fan, I do manage
to listen to your show quite often, that is, if my boss
is feeling especially beneficent that day! He loathes
you and your show. I, however, try to remain open-minded,
although I do find the word "independent" to be quite
humorous when it concerns you and your show. My main gripe,
and the greatest threat to my blood pressure, remains
Tony, from North Providence. This gentleman has an opinion
about everything, half of them valid in my book.
The day or
two after the two sniper suspects were arrested, however,
he revealed himself to be as big an ass as I had always
suspected. When he opined that this was an illegal immigrant
problem, and that the "evil left" was somehow to blame,
it made my blood boil. I do not consider myself a member
of the left, nor particularly of the right, but an American.
This silly stuff serves no-one! He went on to also denigrate
Chief Moose, who probably in his lifetime, never imagined
or hoped for to be in a position such as this. I fear
Tony's racist leanings came into the light when he said
that Moose couldn't even speak English, but some kind
ofEbonics! If that wasn't racism, what was that statement
all about? I "m sure he feels foolish now, however. What
I would like to suggest to Tony, however, with his thick
Rhode Island accent, is that if he appears on national
television, he might seem like some lower echelon member
of the Soprano's. (maybe to a southerner, like Chief Moose)
Also, when he was ranting and raving about the "illegal
immigrant threat" he was so upset, I was hoping that HE
didn't have a gun, or maybe we would have seen some violence
up in this area. Why don't you suggest to this man that
he run for office, or channel his aggressions and other
issues in a more positive light?

Harwood
endorses Carcieri |
|
Good morning
I-man, Did you hear the latest? John Harwood said, "I'd
like to endorse Don Carcieri 100%". That turn coat. Is
he fickle or what? Myrth doesn't want him so now he's
swinging over to support Don. Has he joined those other
"Democrats for Carciere"?
How about Harwood's law firm representing the Lincoln
Greyhound Dog Track owners??? No wonder Johnny and The
Good Old Boys don't want the Indians to have a Casino...they
are protecting "Rhode Island's interests"...get up off
the floor, I-man, and stop laughing. I'm serious. Even
Don Carcieri doesn't want an Indian casino...He said that
he wants more video terminals (code word for slots, otherwise
known as one arm bandits) at Lincoln and Newport and he
wants a bigger cut for Rhode Island. Do these guys have
a bridge in Brooklyn they can sell us???

Re
"Rhode Island Rip Off State" |
|
I agree...the
tolerance of unethical behavior in Rhode Island is higher
on the scale than other states where we've lived. Otherwise
church-going people shrug and say, "what can you do? He's
such a nice guy."
Back in 1973,
a former Providence city solictor commented to me that
Raymond Patricara took him and other neighborhood boys
off the street and put them through college to help defend
the mob. These lawyers that were given a chance for upper
class wealth and their own kids are still repaying the
mob. Wink. Shrug.

Re:
Myrth York Interview 10/29/02 |
|
to Elaine
from North Kingstown,
Please get your facts straight. Don Carcieri had nothing
to do with the banking crisis so please don't stir that
up again. What you are talking about was years before,
during the early 80's, and it has all been explained,
time and again during the primary ... there's nothing
to talk about. Your accusations are about as accurate
as Yorks ads but seeing you brought it up, wasn't Myth
York a State Senator during the banking crisis? Hmmmm
... Is that the experience she's running on?
I hardly call taking a $1,000 contribution for her campaign
in '98 and asking for Harwoods resignation a week after
ALL the Harwood supporters got booted in the primary as
"cleaning house". She was as scared as the rest
of them of going down with the Harwood ship. I believe
those are the "Good Old Boys" of late.
Carcieri, as well as others, asked for Harwood to step
down long before the primary, and rightfully so, even
before the Wendy Collins incident. The same goes for the
container port and other issues as well.
Myrth York will make us proud???? Please! It's the same
old, same old with her. I'll hardly be proud of being
called a Rhode Islander if she becomes governor due to
her decieving and lying to the voters on Don Carcieri's
record. Didn't the voters show in the primary they don't
want the lies, deceit and arrogance that has been going
on for way to long?
Evidently, Myrth York wasn't paying attention. I think
the voters of Rhode Island DO pay attention. We need a
change from the old and that is NOT Myrth York. We need
a clean start with Don Carcieri!

Dear john-
i am a student at johnson & wales university here in providence.
i use j&w transportation to get to and from class, and
my travel times are during your show. the bus drivers
always have your station on, and i find your show to be
very interesting. earlier today the discussion of the
providence college regulations came up and the situation
was compared to the policies of all the other schools
in rhode island, EXCEPT Johnson & Wales. Being a junior
here, and also an employee of the university, i learned
very quickly that j&w pays off people to keep them quiet
about our school. it seems to be that the school even
views positive publicity as bad publicity. has J&w paid
off your radio station too? why is it that all of the
controversy here at this school (and believe me, there's
a lot) is kept quiet? and who signs the check? anxiously
awaiting your response...

Wish
you'd been there at tonight's debate!!! |
|
Hello John...
There were several interesting highlights in tonight's
debate between John E. Howard and Bruce Bayuk.
First of all Mr. Bayuk was unable to specifically answer
several questions about what he would do regarding economic
development, Special Education, and state budget cuts.
(He mentioned starting a community support group for Special
Education which in fact has been in existent for years
in Pawtucket and considered the finest in the state.)
When pressed for more substance by moderators he said
he just didn't have enough information to give educated
answers. The crowd was not pleased and his side of the
audience was doing their best to be supportive.
The bantering between the candidates continued until the
end when Mr. Howard directly asked Mr. Bayuk about his
voting record. Apparently Mr. Bayuk not only missed voting
in the September 10th primary, but if fact has voted only
8 times in the last 29 opportunities. Mr. Bayuk's answer
to the charges were only, "I'm sorry... I apologize...
but I am civic minded."
Mr. Bayuk was surprised to learn that his legal address,
which he filed as being in Pawtucket, did not prevent
him from voting at his Newport business address in 1988.
Again, the crowd was shocked and genuinely surprised.
Mr. Howard asked Mr. Bayuk if either Newport or Pawtucket
should feel defrauded in that election. Mr. Bayuk had
no answer.
Mr. Bayuk continually says Rhode Island and Pawtucket
are both terrible places with national reputations of
corruption and disgrace. Then he went on to say that he
and wife 'Pam' spent two years making the decision to
return to Rhode Island... and Pawtucket.... to live out
the rest of their lives.
Is this a conundrum or what???
I thought tonight's debate was historical for Rhode Island.
Both candidates had many supporters in the audience, however
it was obvious that Mr. Bayuk's cheerers were generally
from out of town.
This is, in my humble opinion, a 'race' that will take
no one by surprise next Tuesday.
Wonder what your thoughts are and I sincerely wish you
had been there this evening. Can you really be 'civic
minded' if you don't even bother to vote? Can the Speaker
pull out the reelection and maintain control of the House?
Can Wendy Collins ever remember anything she tells anyone,
or find two things to match to wear to her next TV interview?
The answer to these questions, and another appearance
by the 'embattled Chairman of the Rhode Island Democratic
Party' coming up soon on the John Depetro show! Stay tuned...

salaries, we could even get a "barber-shop quartet" with
Joey "The Clip" Barber as the conductor for our hard earned
cash!
Seriously.......
how long will these guys hold on to these jobs??? ....or
"hold us up" with this rape of the taxpayers? When will
our hero JDP the Independent man rail against these two
"no-shows" and put these two Governor candidates on notice
that we won't take it any more.
Will either

work hours??

John: Here

The Final
Days
By: Kim E. Greene
TO: JBH
FROM: Your Publicist
RE: Election Week Countdown Schedule
As we enter the final days of this campaign, I have arranged
the following schedule for you that is designed to build
on our incredibly successful efforts to date to carry
your message directly to the constituents of your district
and to get the truth out about "that woman"
and her story.
October 28: 5:00 P.M. NOW Membership Campaign Kick-Off.
As Chairman, you will make brief remarks encouraging people
to join this wonderful organization. Remember, it's "Good
afternoon, women" not "Hey, gurls."
October 29: 2:00 P.M. Roger Williams Law School - Seminar
- Featured Speaker - "Creative Theories of Recovery
under the Rhode Island Workmen's Compensation Act."
October 30: 2:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. Arlene Violet Show,
WHJJ - Continuation of your presentation, "The Defense
that Makes No Sense." Today's focus: How Frank Knight
let you down the same way he did Dr. Carl. Callers: Samuel
DiSano, Eric Sweet, Linc Almond.
October 31: 5:00 P.M. - Halloween Parade, Providence.
Your costume is a Rhode Island State Police Baseball Cap,
your now-trademark crew neck sweater, jeans, and three
State Police officers. Scary, indeed!
November 1: 12:00 P.M. ACI, Cranston. You announce a general
amnesty for all prisoners who are registered voters of
District 57.
November 2: 6:00 P.M. Capriccio, Providence. "Johnny
Come Home." Joint fund raising event for you and
the restaurant. Note in your remarks the decline in restaurant
revenues since August and that the restaurant, like yourself,
is an "innocent victim" of "that woman."
November 3: 12:00 P.M. Pawtucket City Hall. Bus ride with
you for all journalists who were unable to obtain a seat
in your car last time after your appearance on WPRO. Name
tags to be provided to journalists so that you will not
again be compelled to refer to them as "you, you
and you."
November 4: 9:00 A.M. State House. Press conference to
announce funding, via the Joint Committee on Legislative
Services, for a new, full employment program for all single
mothers with three or more children, not just "that
woman." Kick off event for this program will be "Take
A Single Mother To Work Day" to be held in 2003.
3:00 P.M. Rhode Island College. Symposium - Panel member.
Topic: "Will We Have to Wait Another 25 Years for
the Next New Job To Be Created or Can You Make the Same
Mistake Again?"
November 5: All day. Get Out the Vote! Limousine transportation
to the polls for district voters who swear they cannot
spell B-R-U-C-E B-A-Y-U-C-K. Transportation provided by
the folks (known to you as "clients") who own
the dog track and, of course, Capriccio.
7:00 P.M. Capriccio, Providence. Victory Party. Free to
lobbyists; cover charge $750.00 per person for all others.

I think it's
ridiculous the things you post on your site, ESPECIALLY
that stupid picture from the graphic designer who switched
Myrth York's face with Howard Stern's face. Your show
is uninformative and you have no class the way you ramble
on and let callers come on and bash all kinds of people.
What ever happened to intelligent, informed conversation
and debate? This show is nothing but a b*tch session.
It's worse than a ladies sewing circle. If you want to
run a successful talk show, you could start by informing
the people of this state about the real issues and then
encourage healthy debate and conversation instead of the
CRAP that you air.
Not that you care. Why would you? If you did, you would
already have this under control. Maybe you could take
a lesson from Arlene Violet. She's at least fair to people
and keeps control of her ridiculous callers who obviously
have no lives. At least she knows it and tries to keep
it in check.

SO
WHAT SO WHAT SO WHAT
We
all know this doesn't mark the end to this saga... the
push for an independent investigation will gain steam
for sure... if the taxpayers of the state can foot the
bill for paying unsubstantiated workers compensation claims,
forking over another $25,000 from the JCLS coffers and
creating a job at a state college with no explanation
for this strange and one of a kind settlement... one must
be able to put it together that the taxpayers will be
clamoring to keep their already pockets open to pay to
look into why the grand jury came to the conclusion they
did... it doesn't make sense and when things don't make
sense the investigation must go on or one must wonder
has the state of Rhode Island via Dr. Robert Carl, Governor
Lincoln Almond and Speaker of the House John Harwood now
opened the floodgates for these kinds of unsubstantiated
claims to be the normal way to now settle stress claims
in Rhode Island.

Hi John,
I realize
you get tons of mail and that you may or may not remember
me. Anyway, I called in today and made a lot of statements
connecting PC to the Diocese of Providence, the Vagina
Monologues, the gay Catholic subculture, and the liberals.
I just want
to apologize for the erroneous statements I made. It was
not my intention to use your forum to falsely slander
PC. I honestly thought the Diocese owned PC and that PC
ran the Vagina Monologues. You were right in that the
Dominicans own PC and I could find no evidence online
that PC ran the Vagina Monologues; RISD did, as you said.
The real connection is that the Diocese, which is liberal
and has a gay subculture, sends its seminarians to PC.
Anyway, I
still love you and your show. I think you do a great service
to the people of this state. I will make sure my facts
are straight before I call in in the future.
Thanks,

Myrth
York Interview |
|
John,
You did an excellent job interviewing Myrth York today.
You were fair and professional. You asked all the questions
I would have asked... so that makes you A-OK in my book.
The way you did it got the information out, so that the
public can think about her answers and make informed decisions.
I hear a lot of Republican's saying we've got a one party
state and that's got to change. I agree, but the one party
system in this state is not Democrat or Republican. It's
the Good Old Boys Party that has dominated Rhode Island
politics for ever and ever.
Remember when a young Attorney General named Arlene Violet
warned Republican Governor Ed DiPrete and prominent Democrat
legislators of an impending banking crisis? (you're probably
too young to remember... but I remember, I watched all
the hearings on TV ). Democrat and Republican Good Old
Boys did every thing in their power to make mincemeat
out of her. At that same time Don Carcieri also knew there
were going to be problems and he did nothing about it.
He told a reporter during the primary that it was not
his job to do something about it...he just did the audit.
(Maybe I misunderstood what he said but I don't think
so).
More recently, the Democrat and Republican Good Old Boys
got Speaker Harwood's wife appointed to a judgeship. They
broke Governor Almond's year long moratorium on nonessential
hiring to create a new job at RIC for Wendy Collins. Is
this what is called nonpartisian cooperation?
Myrth York had nothing to do with these shenanigans. She
will "clean house" like only a woman can. She
will make us all proud to be called Rhode Islanders.

|
Steve Kass
should be pulled from the "Unlively Experiment". Why pay
him on Channel 36 with taxpayers' dough when he supports
Cianci sitting next to him on a radio show cause Kass
can't pull in the ratings by himself?? It would be nice
if kids in this state could profit from educational television
without seeing a man who works happily next to a convicted
criminal every day. Kass is helping Cianci promote Cianci's
agenda. Kass is nothing but a gutless airbag.
The toleration
of crime in this state is deplorable. Every one knows
Cianci promoted much more illegal activity than came out
publically.
The smug smile
should disappear from Kass's face.

Rhode
Island the Rip off State |
|
We just had
some major remodeling work done on our home...our opportunity
to meet some of Rhode island's best "home grown"
scoundrels.
There is a book written by James Michner called "Chesapeake
Bay" where it documents a group of early settlers
who first immigrated to New England. One of those was a
man named Turlock who happened to be a thief. He was introduced
to the new continent while handcuffed to the mast of the
ship. While the others were respected and law abiding
we find that their descendants became contributors to
society with the remnants of their forefathers integrity
somewhat preserved.
The descendants of Turlock, however, became cheats and
liars...where am I going with all of this. I have a theory
that Rhode Island although founded on religious principles
by Roger Williams...also was a haven for unprincipled
and ill mannered mischief's.
My parents lived here for over 25 yrs. before moving out
of state. When I told them I was returning to Rhode Island
the first thing out of my father's mouth was ... people
rip you off there.
This may be an unfair generalization...and in defense
of my own views I have met some of the nicest and kindest
people here in this state...but there is another element
that has become a part of the fiber of this little community
and that is corruption and thievery. I am strongly considering
moving away.
As for York...terrible example of politics at it worst
and Carcieri has my vote.

Questions
about candidate interviews |
|
Several thoughts
came to mind during your political interviews today:
1. You prefaced
the Lynch/Harsch debate with the prediction that the winner
of the debate would be the next Attorney General of Rhode
Island. Does this imply that you are omniscient or are
you taking the risk that many RI voters will not bother
to vote for AG? It echoes the problems that candidates
in California general elections have had when national
newscasters and other prognosticators declare "winners"
long before the polls have closed.
2. Myrth York
recommended strongly that "report cards" for the public
schools should be established so that parents and other
tax payers may know how the local schools fare according
to tests and other criteria. Is she--and are you--aware
that this type of evaluation is in place as a result of
the SALT surveys and other Article 31 indicators? Perhaps
you could check the RI Department of Education website.
3. Ms. York's
family fortune in part seems to have come from a pharmaceutical
firm, according to one of the pieces in Sunday's Journal.
Would this influence her in any way as she attempts to
broker some financial agreements in gaining better prices
for those Rhode Islanders who get their medications through
state programs? I assume that her plans would not affect
those of us who deal directly with the drugstores.

Myrth
on today - 10/28/02 |
|
Hey John,
Could you ask Myrth if she owns a dictionary? If she does
could you ask her why she doesn't understand the word
"n-e-g-a-t-i-v-e". As in "Those ads are"negative".
When you think she has a grasp with that word move on
to a tougher one such as "d-e-c-e-p-t-i-o-n".
As in "Do you think the the voters in Rhode Island
are stupid enough to not see the 'deception' of these
negative ads".
When she gets a few of these words down hopefully we can
move on to phrases such as "I'm for change"
or "honest government"
I get a kick out of how she "fights" for all
the people of Rhode Island and then trys to decieve them
come election time. Hardly shows skilled leadership and
integrity in my opinion.
Thanks, John in North Kingstown

hi john. i
am so put aside by the idea that channel 6 would have
cianci as their #1 analyst for election results on this

they gave cianci his own show after his first conviction.
i listen to your show and our ms. violet whenever i can.
can't you step up to the plate and put your 2 cents in?

The Word of the Day for October 26 is:
kakistocracy \kak-uh-STAH-kruh-see\ (noun)
: government by the worst people
Example sentence:
The free election won't guarantee an end to kakistocracy,
because none of the candidates have any more integrity
than the corrupt dictator currently in power.
Did you know?
A reader of _Time_ magazine was once so surprised to find
this rare and unusual word in the pages of that publication
that he decided the occasion warranted a letter to the
editor.
"Where
in the name of Semanticus, did your writer come up with
that word 'kakistocracy,'" he wrote in a letter dated
February 6, 1956. "Is it a government of parrots?"
(A "kaka" is a New Zealand parrot.)
Good guess,
but "kakistocracy" actually originated as a
combination of the Greek "kakistos" (superlative
of "kakos," which means "bad") and
the English suffix "-cracy," meaning "form
of government."

Hi John. Im
sure you realize if the snipers were white, the media
would be jumping on the idea of white male militia, fundementalist
christians, etc. Where is the outrage that this man is
a follower of Islam, nation of islam, etc. He is a radical,
muslim fanatic! Why is the media so quiet about this.
We already know that the muslim fanatics are on a rampge
around the world (20 out of 22 wars involve muslims) and
ready to carry out more terror attacks in the future.
We should not be afraid to speak out because of political
correctness on this issue. The countrys future is at stake.

I just looked
up this Wand site. Carcieri is distorting the info. Wand
wants to empower women, work for world peace... at the
same time they do support the war on terrorism but they
do not support the American invasion of Iraq without the
United Nations resolution. Wand supported women who were
brutally beaten by the Taliban virtue police. All this
info is on the Wand site. This is still America. Good
people can have differing opinions and still be patriotic
Americans. Cut the crap Carcieri people. You think that
just because you smile and are polite when you distort
the facts that you can get away with personally maligning

John, What's
up with Myrth York??? She is the queen of self-destructive
negative ads. She has attacted Don Carceiri in the most
negative way recently. I am surprised that she didn't
accuse his company (Cookson) of having something to do
with the sniper attack in the D.C. area. Anyway---- she
would make a lousy marksperson---- since she would more

Stolen
campaign sign |
|
John;
I just had a Carcieri campaign sign stolen from my lawn
on route 6 in Foster. Has anyone else contacted you with
a similar complaint, or was it just vandals?
Obviously I'm a Carcieri supporter, but the citizens of
RI need to take a close look at the recent tactics Myrth
York has taken on in the campaign. If she is going to
run the State by the seat of her "pants" ( please
not a skirt), we will be the target of numerous law suits.
The recent negative ads about Mr. Carcieri are a perfect
example. She ran those ads without first checking if Mr.
Carcieri was even the CEO at the time the plant in PA
was our purchased. He was not, he was VP in charge of
development. She obviously has no idea how corporate America
operates. There are so many layers in a corporation such
as Cookson that a VP, which Mr. Carcieir was at the time,
would have had no idea of the goings on at the PA plant.
When he did become CEO, Cookson built a new plant to replace
the old one. They could have simply closed the old plant,
put the people out of work, and transfer the jobs overseas.
Unfortunately, so many people in RI listen to these 10
second commercials and don't listen to talk radio or read
a complete newspaper article. They will believe anything
that is thrown at them without taking the time to investigate
further. These are the people who will vote for Myrth
York and these are the people who always have their hands
out for government help.

YORK HIDES
York Skips Her Own Press Conference
WARWICK, RI - Today, Don Carcieri's campaign noted York's
absence at her own press conference. "York didn't show
up at her press conference because she is embarrassed
by the campaign she has launched," said Carcieri campaign
manager Ken McKay. "York's lies and slander are not working,
and now she is running away from her own campaign. Her
campaign is now so negative and nasty, she is trying to
distance herself from her own campaign by running away
from it, and not showing up at her own press conferences."
"Her consultants, political hacks and attack dogs have
taken over, and she is trying to run away from them."
Senator Myrth York failed to show at the much hyped news
conference where her campaign rolled out a twist on her
lies about Don Carcieri. In lieu of the Senator, campaign
aides and attorneys stepped in. "If Senator York has gotten
the message that negative campaigns don't work and now
regrets having broken her pledge, we'll accept an apology,"
added McKay. "I hope she wasn't running down to Philadelphia
to shoot another negative attack ad filled with lies.
Regardless, the lies and slander coming from her campaign
are still her responsibility."

PENALTY
|
|
John
The problem we're facing in the US today is that younger
kids (17 and under) are committing violent crimes (rape/murder).
However in the US 18 and older is considered an adult.
We can't keep changing the standards when it's convenient
or because we believe the crime is really heinous. We
have to have a standard. In this country the age of 18
has always been accepted as the adult standard. If that
is not true any more than we ought to revisit it. I am
a death penalty advocate but do not believe in executing
minors.

John,
Don't know if you saw this on Don Carcieri web site yet.
I am concerned that Senator York is on the national board
for an organization that opposes America's War on Terrorism
and opposes the construction of the Seawolf class submarines,"
noted Carcieri. "I supportAmerica's War on Terrorism,
and I supportRhode Island jobs at Electric Boat."
Senator York is on the national board of Women for Alternative
New Directions (WAND). (Source: www.wand.org)
Among anti-defense positions taken by WAND are: opposition
to theAmerica's War on Terrorism, construction of the
Seawolf submarine, the War onIraq, and the expansion of
NATO. "We cannot afford a Governor who takes extreme
positions putting working Rhode Islanders at risk. We

re:
Old gray fox letter |

Dear Old,
I'm sure you
have a valid point, I just have a few questions. First
of all, Who is President Clifton? Do you mean Clifton
Chenier? The king of Zydeco music was president? I need
to start watching the news. And what did Patrick Kennedy
do with Clifton? Something about having sex with women.
I'll believe Clifton was involved, that rascal, but patches
seems like such a nice boy. He probably just fell in with
the wrong crowd. To all you kids out there, let this be
a lesson to you. Them Cajuns is trouble. Beware the lure
of the accordion. And what's a pipe piper? I've heard
of pipe fitters and pipe smokers, but they never seem
to have many followers. Is that what this Cilton guy does?
And who's Caravel? Do you mean Tom Carvel, raspy throated
huckster for Carvel ice cream? In that case, I too would
like to hear him call someone trailer trash. But don't
hold your breath. When they say he's the "Late" Tom Carvel,
it doesn't really mean he's late. It means he's not coming.
And hasn't Hillary suffered enough? Also, what are "elective
officials"? It sounds like maybe an administrator at the
college you couldn't get into that tried to explain what
"electives" were. No wonder you're steamed. But what were
they doing in front of the White House? Anyway, I will
ask Kennedy for "he" financial statement. I hope he knows
what I'm asking for. Norm Crosby just called. He wants
his act back.

I went to
google.com
and asked for Ground Zero, USA... this was one of the
sites. It looks like ABC found this info last July.....
This is Pravda.... in english.
I am writing
from my office and I don't think my employer would be
happy to learn that I am sending emails to radio talk
show hosts on the company computer.....so mum is the word.
MILITANTS
OF AL-QAIDA TRAINED IN ALABAMA
Ground Zero USA military camp situated not far from Maryland,
state Alabama could have been a training area of terrorists
There is an impression that militants of Al-Qaida and
other terrorists radical organizations felt till recently
very comfortable on the US soil.
At least,
a story is still in memory about US immigration services
which only after 6 months after the September 11 terrorist
attack gave an entry visa to the terrorists who captured
planes September 11. And now, one more sensation.
ABC company journalists carried out an investigation and
found out that Ground Zero USA military camp situated
not far from Maryland, state Alabama could have been a
training area of terrorists.
The investigation of the camp activity is being carried
out now by special services of the US and Great Britain.
Actually, that were British services which first learned
that the militants are being trained in the US. This became
known as some Zain-ul-Albedin was arrested, accused of
recruiting militants for Al-Qaida. The recruiting was
carried out very simply: there was a site on which the
system of training (including that one of the Alabama
camp) was described and the address of the recruiters
was presented.
Why was this site ignored before September 11? At least,
there is no information that this site was conspiratorial,
this is hardly possible on the Internet...
The ABC journalists visited the camp. What they saw there
was shocking.
The training was great. As targets, dummies, real buses,
and police cars were used. And they did not spare targets
which were literally riddled.
However, the special services are not sure of the camp
owners knowingly co-operated with terrorists: they did
not most likely know with whom they had to do. Though,
the owners hardly would have done something if even they
had known who were their clients. They seem to have been
paid very well.
So far it cannot be said for sure that that were Al-Qaida
militants who trained in the camp. Though, now FBI started
to check up military camps on US territory. What other
surprises could this investigation bring?

In defense
of John. Without talk radio and cable news (O'Reilly)
we would still be forced to listen to the liberal propaganda
machine of the Democrat party.(CNN,ABC,NBS,CBS) Although
I don't listen to John or Arlene all the time, and sometimes
disagree with John (Sometimes he is bias) I do enjoy his
talk show. It was nice to hear Tony from Cranston who
now sees the light. What frightens me is a that a lot
of people believe the rhetoric and menusia of Patrick
Kenndy(B.T.Barnum).Ask him for his financial statement
as required by law. While your at that, ask if you can
get a job working for him at about $100,000 and don't
even have to live in the state,Dashel(Elmer Gantry), stopping
the Federal Judges selections, we need more liberal judges
the crime rate is going down and the prisons are over
crowded. Let all the snipers out they did't get a fair
trial.and delaying citizens cases in court. Hope you don't
have a case pending and could wait the next five years
and finally, President Clinton (Pipe piper) and you know
who followed the piper. I did not have sex with that women
He made oral sex acceptable and now every kid in 3 grade
knows what oral sex is and is permissible.Did your children
ask you what ORAL SEX is??? Hardwood should have no problem

separation
of powers |
|
Independent
Man:
Let's see if you're a serious independent journalist or
just a talk show guy.
Issue: Nick Gorham could have brought the Separation of
Powers issue to the
floor this year with a little political horsetrading.
When he chose not to, he put his personal agenda ahead
of the people of Rhode Island.
If in fact an offer was made to Representative Gorham
that would have put the signatures over 50, should he
have accepted by agreeing to support amendments dealing
with casino gaming? Afterall Independent Man, both Separation
of Powers and Casino advocates have been requesting that
the people of RI have the right to decide.
If a person in RI can understand the issue of Separation
of Powers enough to consider it on a referendum, they
should be able to consider a question of a casino on a
referendum.
In May of 2002, Nick Gorham had the opportunity to have
the Separation of Powers issue debated on the floor of
the House of Representatives. All he had to do was get
the Republicans to agree to support the casino issue.
REMEMBER ONE KEY FACT: EVEN WITH THE REPUBLICANS SUPPORTING
THE CASINO ISSUE, THE NUMBER OF VOTES IN THE HOUSE STILL
FELL SHORT.

Darrell
West Poll |
|
Hi John,
As a relative
newcomer to the state, I have a question for you and/or
your other listeners regarding Darrell West. After reading
today's ProJo article featuring West's latest poll, I
went online to check out his web site, insidepolitics.org.
In the section ñHeard on Capitol Hill,î he displays among
other things the text of his roast of Patrick Kennedy
last year for the Woonsocket Milk Fund. Now my question
is this: The guy is obviously friendly with Kennedy; and
being not just a professor but a professor at Brown, he
must be pretty left-leaning. Are you convinced of the
objectivity of his polls? I gather from your show and
other sources that he is a well respected political analyst
in the state, but is that just because as such a democrat
stronghold, the state likes him because he says what they
want to hear? This is not an attempt at cynicism or conspiracy
theory, but an earnest inquiry. Can you enlighten me?
Thanks,
John from Newport

LAFFEY VS. GARABEDIAN
CRANSTON MAYORAL RACE |
|
Never is the
difference between candidates so distinguishable than
at live debates. No fluff, no pretty pictures on glossy
fliers, no rhetoric of radio or TV ads, where body language
and quickness of thought are apparent. On Tuesday evening
we got to see and hear two candidates face off man to
man with no political analysts to filter their message.
For me the message was clear. Garabedian came across as
shallow, the old time politician, steeped in a muck of
associations with political friends he's attached himself
to over the last thirty years. Ready willing and able
to talk about history, with no real direction for the
future. Ready to sling mud, lies and mean spirited attacks.
Ready to say anything just to get voted for. A person
better at mobilizing the masses to prevent or prohibit
development from taking place than at creating a favorable
environment for economic development. A man so biased
by his wife's family's financial interest in Warwick Mall
that he would sell out the citizens of Cranston in a New
York minute to further those interests.
Laffey was brilliant. He appeared young, fresh, energetic,
well educated and sincere in his concern for Cranston's
citizens and the current financial problems. Disconnected
from political cronies and special interests. He articulated
a clear plan and vision for our future. He acted morally
when confronted with Garabedian's personal attacks. In
short, he looked and acted like a Mayor.
Please encourage your listeners to view the television
broadcasts of this debate. It will be the best chance
voters in Cranston will have to see and hear for themselves
the real difference between these two candidates before
voting next month. They will be able to make their own
decisions on who and what to believe, rather than rely
on those slick mailers and advertisements created by some
political hucksters. Then, maybe for once we will choose
the government we truly deserve.
I , like you, believe that choice is Laffey
