Vote
count 93 ? |
|
The vote count
at Nataniel Greene School in Pawtucket was at 93 before
7:30 AM? Or the vote count for one machine was at 93?
Or the vote count for Pawtucket in general was at 93?
93 votes placed at one site seems like a large amount
of voters for a site which was open just a half hour to
receive voters. For one thing, it takes the volunteer
organizers at least 10 minutes to get things laid out
properly. I'm looking for a fraud-related loophole in
that statement, ie: how many ballots for Harwood were
put through the machines BEFORE the school site opened
for business?

John:
I was wrong, the big party was at the Baltimore instead
of the Convection Center, but they were signing HAPPY
DAYS ARE BACK AGAIN and the candy store will stay open.
Joe the barber and other lackeys are in line waiting for
a piece of the pie. Rhode Islander's have lost out. There
was no CHANGE and status que remains. Politicians laugh
at talk radio and know it doe not have an impact on voters.
The Democratic Party machine controls the labor unions,
school teachers, immigrants, minorities and senior citizens
are part of their machine. Patrick Kennedy, goes back
to congress. I wonder, now that the rest of the country
put the GOP in majority how much Kennedy will get. York
lost because the party did not support her.
God Bless America and please forgive Rhode Islander voters

Disappointed |
|
I turned on
your show this afternoon to hear you cheer the victory
of our new Governor elect and the national Republicans.
Instead, you're playing pattycake with the Lynch brothers,
who are entrenched political insiders who are part of
the problem. Big deal, Bill Lynch brought his party home
to victory. Really hard to do in Rhode Island! I thought
you wanted real change. These two are not going to bring
the kind of change we really need, nor will they be a
help to our new governor. Where do you really stand? Disappointed

More and more
personality and personal appearance come out as the reason
for York's failure. Frankly, I didn't vote for her because
she looks like a transvestite. Why can't she have the
personal appearance of an O'Brien (Massachusetts)??? Or
hire an image consultant???

Woonsocket
finally defeats Myrth |
|
Hello John,
At least we won the top position in RI. I hope that you
will continue, along with other Rhode Island residents,
for the called resignation of Harwood. He is a menace
to our great state. Is there any way we can exile him
to a third world country? He would manage to screw them
up too. I would also continue to expose all his supporters
and with the help of your wonderful talk show, Arlene
Violet included, that pressure will be put on those reps
who continue to ruin our state. I sincerely hope that
our new governor will be our best yet and that eventually
will show all RI residents that the Republican Party is
the party for true Patriots and Legal Citizens of RI and
the USA.
Best of luck and health too, John. Everyone's independent
man.

JOHN HARWOOD IS AN ASSHOLE AND SO ARE THE IDIOT'S THAT
VOTE FOR HIM. IT'S BAD ENOUGH WE CAN'T BET RID OF KENNEDY
IN THIS STATE. JACK REED IS ALMOST AS BAD BUT UNFORTUNATELY
THE LIBERALS WHO LOVE ILLEGAL ALIENS IN THIS STATE ARE
THE MAJORITY. I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE PEOPLE IN THIS STATE
REALLY WAKE UP AND VOTE THESE JERKS OUT BUT IT MAY NOT
HAPPEN UNTIL THE NEXT REAL ATTACK ON THIS COUNTRY. THANKS

John -
I love your show. Listen all the time. PLEASE tell your
producers that you do not need to accept advertisement
money for Male Arousal Enhancement. I am not a prude,
but I have to turn off the radio now when my kids are
around. Think about it, would you want your kids to hear
that ad, and ask you questions about what it means? I
know you do not make the decisions on the advertisements,
but you must have some input, after all, it reflects on
your show, and reflects POORLY. Thank you.

Happy

John:
Kristen calls me a nerd for being so into politics, but
what President Bush did on a national level was amazing.
He out raised Bubba and did something Bubba could only
wish he could do. President Bush picked up seats in not
only in the house but took control of the Senate. That
has not been done in 100 years. This president may not
be the public speaker Clinton was or should I say the
actor, but he is the real deal.
Bring on 2004.
Tell Nick I give Mayor Laffy my congrats on his victory.
All is right in the USA again.

Hey JD, It's

the best thing is the Republicans in charge, now maybe
somthing can get done on a National level. No more Daschole,

Bill Clinton took a Bitch Slap because almost everywhere
he stuck his ugly face, the Dems took a beating. The people

MIRTH
YORK A THREE TIME LOOSER |
|
John,
In a state
where all democratic candidates win by huge margins, one
person (Mirth York) continues to fail miserably, despite
misleading media polls predicting a close race, millions
of dollars being spent, and the Clinton Dream Team Election
Squad coming to Rhode Island, democrats voted against
Mirth! How could this be and why? It`s NOT because of
the negative campaine adds against Don Cuccieri, or the
bussing in profecional victims from Philidelphia. It`s
NOT even the notion that Mirth York is to liberal for
Rhode Island. The real reason is very, very clear. Union
Thug Democrats will never support a WOMAN for high office.
Geraldine Ferraro? Nope! Shanin O`Brien in Massachusetts?
Not even close! Governor Mirth York? Never gonna happen!
Why ? She`s not a Man, that`s why! If "Mirth York" was
"Mirv York", He would have been elected by a land slide
the first time, along with the rest of the Men in the
Party.
P.S. The positive
side for the Democrats in this "Three Time Looser" election
is that they continue to have a Boogy Man to blame for
all their over spending and political corruption. Don
Cuccieri get ready to RUMMBULL !!

just
some thoughts
on this election night |
|
Can you believe
the people of this state
1st They vote Kennedy back in
2nd They vote for all the bond issues when we are facing
a huge deficit
3rd The one bond issue they should have voted in for Quonset
so they can get that project off the ground the idiots
reject. What the hell is wrong with these people?
4th The voters have approved monies for a city project,
Roger Williams Park.
So does this mean each community can now ask the other
39 cities and towns to fund their projects?
Just some thoughts on this election night.
Oh watch out for Mr. Hardwood's hand picked replacement!!!!!!!
Keep up the good fight John.

Voter's
odyssey |
|
Hi John,
Voting is the lowest threshold of citizenship. I take
it very seriously, so since I moved here last year, I
registered to vote several months ago at the Newport City
Hall. A week or so later, I was sent a throw-away postcard
from the canvassing authority claiming that my application
was incomplete, and that I should call a number at the
authority to provide further information. I thought this
was strange, since I remembered the lady at the office
looking over my application before accepting it. In any
case I called the number, provided my date of birth, and
was told that everything was fine and I would be able
to vote. I decided to keep the postcard anyway.
Last week, I visited the Sec. State's web site to find
out where to vote. They have a little application on there
where you can enter your address and you receive the location
of your local polling place. I learned that my location
was on Chapel Street. I went there this morning, and they
had no record of me. They told me to try the Police Station.
I went there, and they had no record of me. A man there
told me to walk across the street to City Hall, to ask
for a woman named Rita Sloam, and they would take care
of it for me. At the canvassing authority at City Hall,
I asked for Rita, and was told she was out at the polls.
I told my story to a group of woman there. One of them
asked for my name, fed it into her computer, and told
me I was out of luck there was no record of me
in their computer. I explained that I had registered several
months ago, had received mailings from them, and had been
told on the phone that I would be able to vote. She told
me that she was the person who had handled all those phone
calls, and that she didn't remember talking to me (I have
a name that is prominent in Newport; my grandmother and
father are both high-profile republicans in this city
& state though I'm registered independent she
would probably have remembered talking to me). Without
any proof, she and her colleagues said, I was basically
$#!t out of luck. I told her I was going home to get the
mailing as proof.
On the way home, I couldn't help spinning out a conspiracy
theory. This would be the perfect way to prevent people
from voting, maintaining a thin guise of legitimacy: After
they register, send them a throw-away postcard claiming
their application is incomplete. Force them to call in
to confirm. Hope they throw away the postcard. Delete
them from the system, because their application was "incomplete."
With my last name, I would be assumed Republican in Newport,
and a good target for such a scam in a very heavily Irish-Democrat
town.
Tearing through my filing cabinets, I finally found the
little card, and drove back to City Hall. I considered
asking the woman there who she was working for: Kennedy
or Crowley, but thought better of it. As I walked in the
door of the canvassing board office, the women were gathered
around a computer. One of them said "here he is!"
Without asking to see my proof, the "phone"
woman handed me a certificate to submit at the Chapel
Street poll and told me she had found my record. I heaved
a sigh of relief, happy that I could once again earn the
right to call myself an American. I wonder, though, how
many people got such postcards and threw them away, or
how many people confronted with that obstacle just gave
up and said "it's not worth the trouble." I'd
like to believe that this was just an honest mistake,
but then I'd also like to believe that *everything* is
above-board in Newport & RI politics. What do you
think?

I voted at
Nathanel Greene School in Pawtucket at 7:30 am. The vote
count was at 93 at that time. No crowds. Moved quickly.
Voted for Carciere, Rogers, Healey, Harsch and approved
ref #5. If I could have voted for Bayuk, I would have
but I am not in John Hardwood's district. However, I did
not vote for William San Bento who is a Hardwood and Kennedy
ally and against ref. #5.

hi john,
i think that
the big unknown today in rhode island is the "harwood

are so fed up with his antics that it will spill over
into other races, with incumbents finding themselves looking

i voted in
barrington this morning at 9am... i was number 176 on
the machine... and there was a line behind me. hopefully
all of them were voting for my man.. don carcieri, who
i worked with 30 years ago and who will be a great governor!

Governor's
Race |
|
Hi John,
Just a quick e-mail to tell you that i have called Don
Carcieri's office twice trying to find out what his views
were regarding the Narragansett Indian's building a casino
in West Warwick or Rhode Island and the girl who answered
said someone who would know would get back to me and never
did.
I just called again and there was no answer. Thank god
that yesterdays Prov. Journal had all the issues and how
each candidate would handle them.
I can't believe that Mr. Carcieri said out and out that
his answer was "no" as far as helping the Indians
that were certainly here years before he ever was. At
least Myrth York said she would put the referendum to
the people to decide on the issue. There is such a high
percentage of Rhode Islander's heading for Conn. to Foxwoods
and now Mohegan Sun that millions and millions of dollars
are going to helping the State of Conn. from the revenue
these casinos are generating - so whats wrong with Rhode
Island doing the same??
I want to thank Mr. Carcieri's staff for returning my
phone call stating that this issue would be my deciding
vote as to whom i would vote for as Governor.
The one thing i can't figure out is "adding more
video slot machines if the State got a better deal"
!!
Thanks for listening,

Top Careers Choices For Patrick Kennedy If He Loses |
|
John, For
a long a time--- many people around here (including myself)
thought that Patrick Kennedy could not hold down a regular
job. Here is a list of 10 job choices-- if he gets beat
by Dave Rogers on Tuesday:
(1) A rent
control advocate for dead-beat renters
(2) A charter boat operator (good communicative skills
with the Coast Guard)
(3) An airport security officer ("do you know who I was?")
(4) A radio talk show host (maybe a team-up with Rudy
Cheeks to co-host the PATCHES AND CHEEKS SHOW- a talk
show with a liberal following)
(5) A pollster for John Harwood (a 5% approval rating
would be a good goal)
(6) A liason for illegal Haitian immigrants
(7) A publicist for Nuela Pell (Claiborne's elderly wife)
(8) Sweep up hair for Joe "the Barber" in Pawtucket
(9) A lug nut salesman
(10) To head a steering commitee to see if Myrth York
is electable as Governor in '06. Phil.... from Edgewood

Governor's
Race Not A Squeaker |
|
Hey JD:
Unlike most
of the pundits, I think tommorow night we will see Carcieri
with a commanding lead early in the night, beating Myrth
by 8-10 points by the time its all over. The fact is that,
as usual, Myrth put too much stock in her consulatants
and really did herself in with the negative ads. While
I have supported her in the last two elections, and will
vote for her again this time, the reality is that despite
Carcieri's conservative slant he has come across to many
people as better equipped to lead the state.
In the other
races: Harwood gets at least 60% of the vote, Fogarty
is in, Tavares is in, Brown is in. Lynch will get in,
but I think it will be by just a few percentage points.
The Republicans will have a net gain of 5 seats in the
House and Senate combined.

Time
for Change |
|
With yet another
scandal brewing to blow it's top in regards to hiring
practices initiated by the Speaker of House John Howard
to state colleges it is now time for the voters in District
59 to cast their vote for Bruce Bayuk. The only thing
John Howard could wring out about Bruce was his voting
record... BIG DEAL... I can't begin to know why Bruce
chose not to vote but I do know many people who don't
and the reason they always give is "Why bother...what's
the point"... elected officials like John Howard are the
ones that foster this thinking... when citizens feel like
they are getting no where, when they realize that only
the same few benefit all the time, when they see that
when voters demand change and one person controls everything
and that change never comes... one can easily understand
the "why bother...what's the point" attitude. Hopefully
the voters in Pawtucket can see that change is needed
as well as that it is in their hands and that they cast
their votes for this change in the name of Bruce Bayuk!
Rhode Island is on the cusp of a new horizon with a new
governor coming in and change of staff within the administration...a
change in the House would be the coup de grace.... we
as Rhode Islanders not only need it... we deserve it and
by voting for this change we demand it!

Tuesday's
election |
|
John,
My gut feeling
is House Deputy Majority Whip John Barr is going down
in Lincoln. My wife and I are working hard on Bill McManus'
campaign and I think Bill can pull this out. Governor
was at a McManus event last night. Going to be a big Republican
turnout in Lincoln. We'll be getting the numbers as they
come out of the machines, so I'll call you at the station
Tuesday night with the instant results. I'll call 866
920 WHJJ unless you want some other number. Let me know.
Watched Anthony from Cranston last night on a cable access
debate. All those years of listening to him and I figured
him for a 70 year old cranky Italian guy, not some 40
year old guy with all his hair. He looked good. Good luck
tomorrow, and I'll get you some Lincoln results if you
want.

change?? |
|
Good afternoon-
I find it interesting that people see Don Carcieri as
a breath of fresh air- while he is yukking it up on a
regular basis with Buddy Cianci and the Deadly Experiment
host. Oddly enough Myrth wont appear on their show. Perhaps
she is the one with integrity that the old boys club (of
varying political persuasions) just doesn't want to support.
Carcieri may be doing what it takes to be elected, but
chances are there is a price tag on all of this. The Democratic
boys club 's support does not come free of charge. Myrth
most likely knows this and may pay by losing the election.
-What an unfortunate loss for our state. We all want change
but there are several wolves in sheeps' clothing who cant
wait to take advantage of the desperation of the voters.
Your show is a great forum for election info and hopefully
all will get out and vote!

Nope, no patterns anywhere to justify profiling!
So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly
fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners
will no longer be allowed to profile certain people. They
must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little
kids, airline pilots with proper identification, Secret
Service agents who are members of the President's security
detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal
of Honor winning former Governors.

Myrth's
father |
|
Myrth is not
just being evasive about her family's fortunes; she's
LYING. Her father is in his mid 90's and she is saying
that he actively is involved managing their family foundation
rather than her??? Puh---leeze. I would like to know what
vitamin pills he's been taking.
I also would like to see a recent picture of this wonder
man to see whether there are palm trees at his retirement
facility. Nursing home? Wherever.
So Myrth is hiding behind a 90 plus year old man and is
not forthcoming about her investments while spinning tales
about Carcieri.
Myrth is the candidate who, during the primary campaign,
sent fund raising requests to the same attorneys she was
publically castigating for conflict of interest. So these
receipents accused her of extortion. And Myrth later apologized,
saying she didn't know they got her fundraising request
because she was not in charge of her own mailings.
Actually, as a woman I was torn between the two candidates,
but not now. I want an HONEST governor. A non-lawyer,
for that matter. I am tired of deceptive people in this
state.

Dear Myrth
I do not know Carcieri, nor am I in any way affiliated
with him or the Republican party and I have never, until
this E-mail, in any way participated in any election except
for voting. I am a lifelong resident of RI. I love this
state and this country. If you have any decency in you,
and would like to help RI, please leave, go back to New
Jersey! We have way too many corrupt politicians in RI.
Your lies have me so angry, I'm literally shaking as I
type this. I almost gagged the other day when I heard
you say that during a fire, the employees locked the doors
to keep the firemen out so they wouldn't find out what
they were doing in the plant. How gullible and stupid
do you think the people of RI are? When I read the Prov
Journal article, on page 8 - should have been on page
1, "EPA head defends Carcieri", "Ms Whitman
looked carefully at the allegations made against Carcieri
(and found them false!!!) something was done before Carcieri
was head of the company. As soon as he got in, action
was taken {things were} cleaned up." "The implication
he was behind this, that he was somehow cavalier toward
the environment is not a true portrayal of the man or
his background and his record."
YOU LIAR!! PLEASE GO BACK TO NJ!!

Campion? |
|
Dear Mr. Depetro,
I had to write after reading Mr Campions strange letter.
I found it odd that he claims that he is becomming conservative,
and at the same time is advocating socialism. There is
nothing conservative about hate crime legislation.
I come from a land where thought crimes are punished more
than crimes of violence. It worries me that every year
this country edges closer to my old country. If the United
States slides into socialism, with it's thought control
and lack of individual freedom, I will probably kill myself,
since there is nowhere left to run to.
I urge people to study your Constitution and your history
and remember where you came from. Conservatism is protecting
the Costitution and individual liberty.
Sincerely,
Manny in Pawtucket

Chris
Young interview |
|
Dear John,
you gave Chris Young WAY too much air time on Friday.
He has a better chance of winning Powerball than being
elected Mayor of Prov. He is the only candidate making
an issue of David Cicilline's sexual orientation, neither
Greg Garrit or David Talon have spoken of it ( if at all
) as much as he has. He spoke of how soft Cicilline's
voice was, wtf, Young's voice isn't any deeper, I thought
for sure you would have said something about that. I hope
you guys bolted down the tables before he got to the studio,
lol. Does this guy really think he's going to be elected
or is he doing it as a joke?

John,
I have manytimes complmented you on your work--If not
for you, I think Buddy would still be there and Harwood
would not have been revealed for what he is.
However, there was far too much ridicule of Chris Young
on you show yesterday. I do not know the man but evryone
should be treated with respect-- everyone. That was lacking
from you and many of the nasty callers.
(Years ago as a teacher, I used some ridicule with a student
who was a bit of a pest. I regret my conduct since--believe
it.)
Best regards,

another Harwood story |
|
Hey John,
Did you see
this mornings Projo 11/2/02...another Harwood woman story...
on loan to URI... what the - heck - is - that - all -
about... and nobody's keeping track of her working hours...give
me a break !!! How many of us have that kind of set up?
Plus earning 40,000 dollars a year.... if the people of
Pawtucket don't get out and vote for Bruce Bayuk, it will
be a crying shame. They are the only ones that can get
him out of office. What's the matter with them? Aren't
they ashamed of him? He's done more for himself than he's
ever done for them, and yet they keep reelecting him...and
the grand jury found nothing wrong with him and Dr. Carl
getting Wendy Collins a job at RIC at taxpayers expense.
I don't get it. What is the matter with these people???
Bruce Bayuk has got to get elected. And I don't care if
he missed voting in a few elections.... Harwood voted
in all the elections and look at the kind of guy he is....

Don is just
too conservative for this state. If he wins it will be
a Hoover term. This guy has the unfocused look of someone

weird ideas like mushrooms. Look out. The wealthy don't
get out enough. This guy would be harmless enough feeding
pigeons in Roger Williams. Any new dirt from the RI Drudge?

advocating
thought control |
|
Dear Independent
Man;
I felt obligated to respond to the ravings of your Professor
Campion who is advocating thought control through the
processes of convicting people for their thoughts, rather
than their deeds. What is the purpose of new laws for
the same crime? Assault and battery is already on the
books, why not enforce it?
Why is he not demanding better police protection? Or better
still, why not decry the subersion of our rights that
forces the citizenry to forego the means of self-protection?
Considering that the police are under absolutely no obligation
to protect us, we, the citizens are twice wronged by crime.
First by the actual perpetrator, secondly by the incompetence
and indifference to our plight by the state.
Criminalize hate?
Indeed. Isn't Liberalism itself, a crime of hate?
They advocate the destruction of my culture, the enslavement
of my children through the indoctrination camps they call
schools, the confiscation of my business and property
through regressive taxation and other forms of takings.
Liberals are deleting or revising our history, (see the
disgraced Professor Michael Bellisiles) making the greatest
political experiment out to be the precise opposite of
what it is. (See the students of Brown, protesting our
efforts to survive the onslaught of the Islamic Jihad
leveled against us.)In sum, Liberalism is calling for
the ruin of our economy and our nation.
I submit to you that the call for hate crime legislation
is simply a cover for the Liberal's intention of controlling
the population by criminalizing ideas they don't approve
of.
Since they lack reason and logic, and simply can not compete
in the field of honest debate, they seek to criminalize
disagreement.

First
Question |
|
Hi John,
Regarding your first question of the day directed to female
voters and how today's abortion editorial has effected
a voter's decision as to which candidate to support for
governor: As a pro-Carcieri female voter, Don Carcieri
initially got my vote on his ideas and ethics. It was
reinforced by his stand against the disrespectful behavior
toward a female employee in the speaker's office which
he came out against before his opponent. It was sealed
by his position against taking the lives of unborn children.
I disagree with your statement that the abortion issue
is not prominent on the statewide level. As a pro-life
voter I have always felt that the term "pro-choice" is
misleading because if both parties to the abortion had
a true choice, the unborn child would have his or her
choice equally with the mother and that if the mother
won't allow the child to have a voice then she is not
giving that child a choice. I steadfastly believe Rhode
Islanders support life from its inception through its
final stages and that support is reflected in Rhode Island's
rich fabric of respect for both the individual and the
family. Likewise, a respect for environmental life follows
a respect for human life. This is why York's negative
campaigning strikes me as so disingenuous and illogical.
Respect for unborn life, respect for women (born and unborn),
respect for the environment---that's what I see in Don
Carcieri. To the contrary, lack of respect for unborn
life, lack of respect for women (unborn and born), lack
of respect for the environment, as a logical sequence---that's
what I see in Myrth York. Thanks for letting me voice
my opinion.

Does
Myrth really care? |
|
Hi, John,
thought this would be of interest:
Amid the hubub of negative TV and radio ads, Myrth York
has proclaimed that she is for the health and safety of
our families and the protection of the environment, but
this is disproved by her actions as a state senator.
In 1993, Sen. W. Michael Sullivan in the RI senate and
Rep. Charlene Lima in the house, produced a bill, the
first of its kind in the country, to give consumers a
choice by allowing farmers and distributors to label their
milk as being free of "RBST"--a growth hormone
produced by Monsanto designed to enhance the production
of milk cows. While BST itself is a natural hormone in
all females, the "R" added by Monsanto is a
synthetic amino acid, Somatatrophin, which turns a cow
into a virtual walking mammary, able to produce 30% more
milk. Unfortunately, it is bad for the animal because
it decreases their longevity dramatically and is detrimental
to their overall health and well-being. It is also transferred
from cow to consumer through the milk itself, contributing
unwanted effects on female children such as premature
and enlarged development.
As chairperson of the Senate Health, Education, and Welfare
Committee, Sen. York refused to let the bill out of committee.
Why? Monsanto's lobbyist was trying to kill the bill through
its sponsors; when that didn't work, he approached the
committee chairs. Who was this lobbyist? Robert Goldberg.
A year later, in 1994, the bill made it out of committee,
but Chairperson York had re-written the bill so that it
conflicted with federal anti-labelling laws, which led
to its defeat. The question that comes to mind is who
was Myrth York protecting--"working families"
or corporate giant Monsanto and their ubiquitous lobbyist,
Robert Goldberg? And what contributions have been made
to her three campaigns for governor on behalf of a grateful
lobbyist for killing a bill that would have benefited
the constituents she claims to serve?

Holding
The Winner's Feet to The Fire |
|
Hi John, the
Independent Man!
I think we've
seen several weeks of examples of whats wrong with RI
Government reflected in a few high profile stories:
1. The Harwood
Deal and the state employees who covered up the deal.
2. The Sheriff
Mess & LawnMower Sheriff at $90,000 a year
3. The No
Show Jobs with Joe the Barber being the biggest abuser.
I'm EXPECTING
you as the guiding force in reform in RI to HOLD THEIR
FEET to the fire... I mean the New Governor.... so we
can start to clean up this mess. I think you should challenge
the new Governor to act on these three high profile cases
to the best of their ability to show there is a new day
for RI.
After the
election, have the Governor-Elect on the show. Ask them
direct questions as to whether or not they will replace
these people or remove them from ANY position of authority.
Tell them we will ALL be watching.
I think we
can send all of RI a simple but UNDERSTOOD message by
using these simple "bad apples" as examples of how NOT
to govern!
thanks

Hate
|
|
Dear John,
I listen
to your show anytime I have the opportunity do to so,
almost every day, at least in part. I rarely get to express
my opinion as a listener, for I am either working in my
lab, or driving in the car. Well, I wish to make my thoughts
known today.
I just received
word that a good friend of mine (muscular and stout) was
the recipient of a glorious gift last night, the gift
of hate. According to his short conversation with me,
he was beat up for simply leaving the Met Cafe last night,
and walking with his friend (a young girl, both in their
twenties) to their car. They were attacked by some young
men full of hate and rage, called a "faggot" and hit until
both were felled. He is home now, with many deep bruises
and cuts, wondering: "Why us?". I did not get to talk
to him for very long, so I do not know any more then the
details I have provided.
I am filled
with sadness. I am filled with anger. I am filled with
a need to make these events known. I listen to you. I
like your opinion, and respect what you have to say. This
made me think to turn to you. Perhaps you can send a message,
if you can, and if you have time: perhaps answer my questions...
Who out of
our candidates will push towards stricter penalties for
crimes of hate? Who worries more about the lives of the
people of Rhode Island on a very base level, (what good
will reduced prescription cost be if you never live 'til
a ripe old age?) such as the level of safety in our streets
and towns? [With a beloved and aged grandmother, I do
NOT make light of the extreme burdon that pharmaceuticals
place on our eldery! Please believe that!]
Why do I have
to pay for my health care as a graduate student at URI,
when some candidates wish to provide free health care
to non taxpaying illegal immigrants, while young 20 something
people cannot cross a side street in down town Providence
in safety? If that were me, I would have terrible bills
to pay for emergency care because I could not go to URI
health services if struck down in Providence.
Which of
our illustrious candidates cares about the well being
of graduate students at URI? Do they know that a union
has been formed, and will be struggling to represent us
over the next few years? Do they value education and keeping
it here, in RI? How can we attract bright young people
to work as graduate students in Rhode Island, when we
cannot even come close to the stipends (and benifits)
offered by other state schools?
I was raised
in Coventry, I was educated in Rhode Island, then Atlanta,
yet returned to Rhode Island to finish my doctoral work,
and be close to those I love. My issues of interest may
not be like those of the rest of the Rhode Island population
for, they are more immediate. Frankly, in the light of
last night's sadness, I find myself deeply troubled. Any
time I hear about crimes which happen because of hate,
or boredom on the part of the criminal, I am deeply troubled.
I must say now, that I am less likely to go downcity,
(not like I spend much time out of my research lab, anyway).
I hope I
have made some sense, I am rather emotional at the moment.
Frankly, I think that this is the best time to get my
thoughts to you, for they would be polished and honed
if I wait until tomorrow. If nothing else, please remind
people that hate crimes happen. They can hurt any of us,
or someone we care about. And! they can happen right in
our own backyards. Lets send some kind of signal out there,
that our society will NOT tolerate it. Send offenders
to jail for long periods (believe me, I would rather spend
tax money that way, then in helping people who have not
contributed anyway!). It makes me so sad to speak inhumanely,
but the older I get, and the harsher the world seems,
the more conservative I become. It had to take someone
people I think are really special to be hurt before I
woke up out of my research lab focus long enough to look
toward the campaign, and how I can help our state. I long
for those halcyon days of innocence!
Peace to you
John! and sincere thanks,

REGISTRY OF MOTOR VEHICLES |

DEAR INDEPENDENT
MAN:
I REALLY ENJOY YOUR SHOW.
I WOULD SUGGEST YOU INVESTIGATE THE REGISTRY OF MOTOR
VEHICLES AND THE PLIGHT THAT MANY RHODE ISLANDERS HAVE
WHEN TRYING TO REGISTER A VEHICLES. IN THIS CASE I'M TALKING
ABOUT THE "POOR SOULS" THAT BUY A VEHICLE FROM
A PRIVATE PARTY AND MAKE THE PURGATORY WALK TO THE HELL
OF RHODE ISLAND (DMV). THE WAIT CAN BE UP TO THREE HOURS.
PEOPLE LOSING TIME OUT OF WORK LET ALONE THEIR LIFE TO
REGISTER A CAR.
SEND SOME OF YOUR AIDES TO TAKE A "TICKET AT DIFFERENT
TIMES" ETC. AND HAVE SOME FUN ON YOUR SHOW. HOWEVER
YOU COULD MAKE AN IMPACT ON THIS AWFUL EXPERIENCES THAT
SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO ANY RHODE ISLANDER.
THE SECOND IS THE LICENSE RENEWAL. THE WAIT IS REALLY
BAD. HOWEVER THE BIGGEST JOKE IS READING THE CHART. PEOPLE
HAVE TO PUT ON THEIR READING GLASSES TO READ A LINE. DO
PEOPLE PUT THEIR READING GLASSES ON TO DRIVE? ASK YOUR
FRIEND DR. KOCH ABOUT THAT? WHAT DOES HE DO?
THANKS.

car
insurance |
|
A new driver
(teenager) will add $1200 to $1800 to your insurance policy
depending on the make & Model. No fault in Mass does not
lower your insurance cost. In Seekonk, a 2002 VW Beetle,
'99 Explorer, and "99 Land Rover, with 4 drivers,
including two teenagers costs $4500. Add another driver,
(my 16 year old) and next year will be well over $6k!
So be fore warned with the independent family drivers
in the future, discounts help, such as MADD, etc. But
it is very, very expensive.
P.S. When
the time comes, get yourself a $2-$3 million umbrella
liability policy for $200 $300 per year. With teenagers,
and a tragic accident, your auto and homeowners will quickly
reach their limits. One of the largest cases was in RI
recently, where the car leasing company also was sued.

debate |
|
John,
You don't get it. Gene was not there as a REPORTER he
was there as a MODERATOR. While, it is clear that he is
far from the brightest bulb on the tree, but I would,
at a minimum, think that he knows the difference. He just
said that all reporters want details regarding her finances.
However, it is COMPLETELY inappropriate and unprofessional
(although I would expect nothing less from moronic local
news) to interrupt a response, out of the blue, to ask
a question that he, as a REPORTER would like the candidate
to answer. The moderator and related questions resembled
a high school president like level of intelligence and
debate.
Moreover, if he truly believes that there is any type
of comparison to be made from holding an environmentally
unfriendly company's stock in a portfolio and being the
CEO of an environmentally unfriendly company, he is even
dumber than I thought.

Just
read the "Hey John" email |
|
Hi John,
Just read the "Hey John" email from:
Always listening
Barbara
Coventry
The last line,
"Just thought I would let you know that when I heard
what her answer concerning that one issue, I decided to
vote for Myrth York for Governor."
Says it all about some voters. Just how far out of touch
can a person be? Nearly 2 billion dollars strictly used
for health issues in general. If she has such a great
idea of using the $$$ why not tobacco money used just
for tobacco related illnesses. I doubt if that is her
intent.
Yes we should use some of the $$$ for health related issues
AND to help with any number of other financially strapped
parts of out state budget! However, has she missed something...
[I'm not an "insider"...YET (HA! HA!)] but I
thought that the present GA had already spent ALL of that
money, at a greatly reduced value, to plug deficits in
this year's budget!
I wish that people would listen a bit more closely to
the WHOLE STORY and then make well thought out voting
decisions, whether it be for candidates or referenda.
I'll be listening today as I continue to travel my new
district (53) meeting voters and dropping off literature.
Keep up the good work of keeping the people of RI informed
and "on their toes"!

Dick Mandeville
Republican Candidate for House District 53 Smithfield

question |

Hi John;
A question
that has been bothering me for a long time could be asked
and answered today. You are going to have Mrs. York in
your show today and this is my question to her.
Who in their
right mind would spend four million dollars plus three
or four million more for the other two runs to get an
office that must pay in the hundred thousand dollar range.
This woman wants to handle the finances of the state after
spending in excess of seven million dollars of her own
money to get a job with such a return has got to need
a Head Doctor. Please get the answer from her, as this
dosen't make any common sense to me.
Thank you.

Vote
for Myrth With No Guilt Feelings |
|
John,
I am an avid
listener, but never a caller. I have heard several comments
to the effect that "if a woman votes for Myrth York just
cause she is a woman - that is just awful, gender bias,
etc.". Well, no one is going to make me feel guilty about
voting for Myrth because she is a woman for whatever reason.
Rarely have woman even had a choice in the matter - male
or female? I say, let us see what a woman can do. Men
have been at it and have abused the power and basically
screwed up in general. Issues with Swift - kids stuff,
on the other hand, Myrth is focused and will be on her
job. Who are these men kidding, the closet misogynists
that they are, they would never vote for a woman anyway!!!
