Re: Hello 4/29/03 |

Bill,
You just proved the heightened ignorance of Rhode Islanders.
Just because a piece of property does not look like Augusta,
GA does not mean it is not worth more than what the state
wants to offer. It sounds like this man is the sort of
person you do not want in your neighborhood. Well I just
finished closing an operation in your state. You and many
of the people of Rhode Island are the sort of people we
do not want to employ. We left the state leaving 15 unemployed
people who were making over $50,000 per annum not including
benefits. I also own a part time agricultural business
on 11 acres that is worth 5 million dollars to the builders.
Our operation has four employees who make over $60,000
a year and my partners and I are clearing $250K from Easter
to Christmas. We sell Tulips and bouquets for Easter,
flowers and bouquets for Mother's day, Strawberries for
Memorial Day, fruits and vegetables for the entire summer,
pumpkins for Halloween, vegetables and pies for Thanksgiving
and Christmas trees, wreaths and pies for Christmas to
finish out the year. Your state's elected officials and
people have to learn to keep your noses out other people's
business! Let the business people do what it take to produce
jobs. I don't think more than 5% of the State of Rhode
Islands workers are making over $60,000 per annum per
job, not per family, which I consider a minimum wage for
a valued worker that also does not include benefits. Our
employees work their asses off during the summer get 2
months off between Christmas and Ash Wednesday we also
give top of the line health insurance and dental, disability,
and accident insurance. I don't know or any Rhode Island
company that doesn't hoodwink their workers on health
care. They don't understand when you take care of your
employees they will take care of you. Rhode Island is
to much what's in it for me and sadly with the influences
of your society it will not change. I hope this will give
you a different perspective!

TV Stations do "choose" what is shown! |
|
John,
Local TV stations always have a choice on what they show
(broadcast) even if they depart from the "networks" programming
schedule. So do the viewers have a choice to watch or
not. As famous actors so stated;
"So what!" or
was it "Who
cares?"

Tv program |
|
Hi
John,
I also have a problem with TV stations and radio stations
telling me what I can or cannot watch. If they want to
be sensitive, someone can come on the TV just before the
program and explain that the program contains similarities
and that the stations thoughts and prayers are with the
victims of the tragedy. Great show.

CSI Programming Decision |
|
CC
to
CBS Television
Providence Journal
John Depetro WHJJ Radio
Dear WPRI,
I have just been made aware of the preemption of an upcoming
episode of CSI on your station. Even though I am not a
frequent viewer of the program, I take issue with the
fact that WPRI is trying to parent the state. It is not
your job to censor network programming. Leave that to
the Network. It is totally unfair to punish viewers of
that program because you are afraid of offending a few
people. Do you realize all the programming on radio and
television each day that offends? It makes no sense to
run scared every time a plot line pops up that freaks
you out a little. That's why every TV ever made is equipped
with a tuner. If someone doesn't like what's on then they
simply can change the channel. The people who can handle
it will watch it and the people who can't are perfectly
capable of switching frequencies.
You are you doing a disservice to Rhode Island viewers,
by keeping it from us because you assume that we can't
handle it. You are also doing a disservice to the CBS
Television Network, producers of CSI and the CSI cast
and crew. They didn't work hard on writing and producing
this episode just so you could flick a switch and black
it out for a million plus people!
This is not a smart decision. Put the choice back in the
hands of your viewers where it belongs and stop playing
babysitter. It's not appreciated at all and the backlash
of your poor decision may effect your station for many
rating books to come.
Now pardon me while I switch over to my roof antenna and
watch WBZ Boston for now on. Looks like it's now my turn
to censor you!

The
Michael Moore of WHJJ is now on another station in this
area. I hope this means Sunday mornings will be free of
him on your station John. His tactics are simple. If you
disagree with him, he berates and belittles you. His viscous
method is moronic ,at best. One day I heard Leah call
in. This classless moron Kane, was at his lowlife worst.
I switched the station. The management should give Tom

pace. He has proven his worth (Wars with Arleen) to be
given a chance. It would be a true breathe of fresh air.

The
old American absent mindedly arrived at French customs
at Paris airport and fumbled for his passport.
"You have been to France before Monsieur?",
the customs officer asked sarcastically.
The ancient Yank admitted that he had been to France before.
"Then you should know enough to have your passport
ready for inspection", snapped the irate official.
The American said that the last time he came to France
he did not have to show his passport.
"Impossible, old man. You Americans always have to
show your passports on arrival in France."
The old American gave the Frenchman a long hard look.
"I assure you, young man, that when I came ashore

Hello
John,
I enjoyed reading the article about Separation of Powers
and I'm very disappointed at the democratic leaders who
I hope that the voters of our great state have enough
sense to weed them out of office ASAP. I am also in full
support of our local government watchdog groups and hope
that they will continue their valued opinions.
How much insult from democratics on our intelligence does
it take to realize that they are the party of the past
and that either intelligent independents or republicans
are the future leaders of our country and state.
Langevin, Reed, Chaffee and Kennedy, all should be voted
out of office as should the entire democratic contingency.

A quandary |
|
You
are the President of the United States. Scientists have
discovered that a meteor is headed straight towards the
earth. They have calculated that it will strike France
in two days at approximately 2:30 AM eastern time. The
meteor is large enough to completely wipe France from
the face of the earth.
France and the United Nations have urgently requested
that the United States fire all of its missiles at the
meteor and that it send all available ships, troops and
aircraft to help evacuate the country. Many of these ships
and planes you could send are being used to fight the
war on terror overseas.
As the President, you must decide:
Do you stay up late on the night of the impact to watch
the coverage live on CNN, or do you tape it and watch
it in the morning?

The soapy guy |
|
That
anti-Rhode Island "soap opera" dude does have
one or two good points periodically. Relating to his comment
on Housing in Rhode Island, The U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development will hand out millions of housing
rehabilitation money, especially for first time buyers,
to the YMCA, YWCA, or any non-profit, in order for that
non-profit to acquire old, run-down houses, often from
the cities, and bring them up to building codes. The homes
are then sold to low-income, first time home buyers. This
would be great for the neighborhoods, except???
This program has been around for years, but the problem
is corrupt elements in some local cities, ie:Providence,
harvest a piece of the federal money, by working only
with "insider" non-profits, who pay off the
officials who work in the Department of Inspections. Cianci
took his piece of the action, too, as mob boss.
Key players who enable this federal money to funnel into
non-profits in our state, refuse to work with Providence
non-profits, knowing what the non-involved non-profits
are up against in criminal activity. Hope Cicillini can
turn this around.
Course, many of the same insider builders that work their
schemes in Providence, strut their stuff in other muncipalities,
too. Pay offs, pay offs, and more pay offs.
So..a side product of this style of city insider corruption
in inspections? Inspectors who expect tips...and property
owners that are harassed by inspectors. Property kept
in good condition are harassed. Property kept in worse
condition... are not.
These inspectors and some attorneys who are their handlers,
know how to create a system which they can manipulate
and milk for all its worth.
Let's clean house!

I turned him on to your show a while ago, we like listening

Anyhow, I hope you'll be doing a smokers vs. nonsmokers

Also, I'd like to suggest "Circumcision: Mutilation

strange in saunderstown |
|
Dear
John:
Just in from a North Kingstown Council meeting, I must
comment on the woman from Saunderstown who called your
show today and stated that Saunderstown now looks like
route 2 in Warwick. You aptly cut her off when she said
something about being in her garden in her underwear.
Bet that her husband, if she has one, travels frequently.
As a town council member, I was appalled and shamed to
listen to her ignorance! Drive down Gilbert Stuart Road
and drive down 1A past Casey Farm, and find the parallel
to Warwick. We take great pride in preserving our rural
character, as evidenced tomorrow by a groundbreaking ceremony
for BankRI at the intersection of Routes 2 and 102 in
NK. They have put forth a plan for a beautiful building
with no gaudy signage, and one that completely fits with
our interest in maintaining a rural character along Route
102. We really work hard to encourage development that
will blend with our aesthetic needs, and that woman apparently
doesn't live where I live!
EDC endeavors in Lincoln are problematic and historic,
just as the problems with developing Quonset remain. We
remain hopeful that the new administration will bring
some fresh faces and ideas that offer clear development
plans and fairness to the existing local businesses.
The handful of wild cards call you and come to local Council
meetings...they do provide a certain level of entertainment,
but surge over the tolerance level after a while!
Lastly, we share admiration for T. Marsocci and Pro Paint
Plus...no one could do what he does so well
Fondly and in NO need of public sharing,

Taps Ghost Player |
|
This
is in regards to your conversation today regards the State
not having enough money to pay for bugle players at a
military veterans funeral. There is simply no way to explain
why we as taxpayers can pay for part time legislator John
Howard's $4,700.00 cell phone bill and all the other cell
phones in state and not pay for a bugle player at the
funeral of a person who dedicated their life to defending
our country. There is simply no way to explain why we
as taxpayers are paying to hold open a position at Rhode
Island College for Wendy Collins when talk on the street
is she hasn't been there in months. There is simply no
way anyone can explain why we as taxpayers foot the bill
for parties at the state house and private restaurants,
pay for teenagers to sit in an office at the Capital TV
office because they have a certain last name or are related
to a certain last name and we can't afford to pay for
a bugle player. But this is for certain, in one word I
can simply explain what not coming up with a paltry $18,000.00
a year for a bugle player is... it is WRONG.

I have never called your program, yet listen whenever

imagined anything other than the appropriate formal ceremony.
We laid to rest a man who loved his family his country

happen at his service was like pouring salt into an open

Believe in the "Boss" System |
|
John,
it appears you think this state you should follow the
old "boss system" of getting things done. The
firms that have benefited from these deals are companies
that are in financial trouble. Fidelity tied there margin
accounts with credit card accounts now these accounts
do very little trading since the value has dropped and
so many people have been living off their credit card.
They are now after state pensions plans to turn them into
cash balance plans to increase revenue. The other company
that the state went after was FleetBoston as you are aware
of they are up for take over which it looks like Citicorp
these jobs at Lincoln on average are in telesales which
are minimal jobs and many will disappear this fall with
the enactment of the Federal Do Not Call List. The jobs
brought in are actually low paying jobs that do not make
sense to have done in New York or Boston. That is like
most jobs in Rhode Island and eventually will be shipped
overseas.
Computerization makes it very easy to do banking and brokerage
back office work overseas very easy.
The State of Rhode Island if they want to bring in jobs
is to DEREGULATE to bring ALL types of companies in. Allow
these companies more control of what property they want
to buy, what can be torn down.
There was no need for the state to build Providence Place
mall, all that was needed was to make this state business
friendly less of a regulatory hell and companies will
be glad to Create Wealth for an area. Just keep the idiots
NIMBY's and the politicians out of businesses way. Nimby's
include environmentalists, historical groups social service
groups. GTech really hoodwinked the state they kept 920
halfway decent jobs created a few decent paying jobs for
roughly two years and a numerous amount of minimum wage
jobs for restaurants and parking attendants. In one other
show you mentioned being able to see work from the highway,
it will not be seen as you said, the garage from Providence
Place mall and the Westin Hotel block the view. This state
also should allow the opening of the container port at
Quonset to show they are ready for business and will deal
with business in an ethical manner that is the norm for
the rest of the country.
Another issue this state has to deal with are the do-gooders
who want taxpayers money used for the poor who to many
only have poor judgement. That is the churches responsibility
and other charities are for. Your friend's tragedy, to
many people are trying to get either the state or the
federal government to pay the victims for their loses.
In our society people have the choice to buy life insurance.
For a term life insurance for the age of the people killed
it would be about a ($1) one dollar per thousand dollars
worth of coverage depending on health for $1,000.00 I
have one million in coverage it will take of my family.
I would encourage anybody who has children to buy coverage
to take care of them. Nobody knows when there time will
come and many of us have commitments we are responsible
for, why place that burden on our spouses at such a horrible
time.

Eminent Domain |
|
John:
Have you ever heard of Digital Equipment Corporation?
Were you living in RI when Gov. J. Joseph Garrehy stood
on the site now occupied by GTech and proclaimed that
DEC had taken out an option on the land to build a manufacturing
plant SOMETIME in the future. The state would have to
build an interchange off I-95 to accommodate DEC's plans.
Where is DEC today and who profited from the sale of the
land to GTech after the taxpayers had put in the interchange?
Why are the taxpayers pumping millions of $$$ into Quonset
Davisville infrastructure? Why don't GTech and Dow locate
in this "prime" property? (Or could it be that this is
the site for the Narragansett's' casino?) My legal dictionary
defines "eminent domain" as "...the right of the state
or sovereign to take private property for PUBLIC use..."
Note that he operative word is public use, NOT for the
benefit of privately held companies.
|
| April 29 |
Eminent Domain |
|
Been
a fan for a long time,,, but John, you're are way off
on this topic. As a moderate/conservative voice you should
know that eminent domain is, according to both the US
& State constitutions for use in procuring property
for public use only, not for reselling to a private party.
It DOESN'T MATTER whether jobs are involved or not.
This policy of obtaining property unconstitutionally for
private purposes has been growing dramatically for the
last couple of decades, but now more & more battles
are being fought & won by individuals & organizations
such as the Institute for Justice in D.C.
You might want to go to the following site & read
how abusive the practice has become to individual rights.

Are you demented??? |
|
How
can you say that this Mollo deal is a no brainer?? There
are single family houses that sell for 600K in this market.
He owns 40 acres of land PLUS rental property which is
a source of income for him PLUS a thriving nursery business
besides his family residence. He already lost his mother's
home by eminent domain. What the state is doing is an
outrage. 800K is in NO way a fair price for his property,
loss of potential future earning and that of his sons.
Where will he be able to find a location as lucrative
as the one he owns with rental property etc. in a desirable
setting for 800K?? It is not going to happen. He is being
ripped off and this should NOT be allowed!! I am totally
against the way they are treating him.

John:
I thought this was funny. Also if anyone wants the Iraqi
leaders deck of cards have them go to
www.greatusaflags.com. Sometimes it does not take
right away but that is the site.
Marine Corps General Reinwald was recently interviewed
on the NPR (National Public Radio) by a female interviewer
as he was preparing to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting
his military installation.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things
are you going to teach these young boys when they visit
your base?
GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing,
canoeing, archery, and shooting.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible,
isn't it?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly
supervised on the rifle range.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly
dangerous activity to be teaching children?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching
them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a
firearm.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become
violent killers.
GENERAL REINWALD: Well, you're equipped to be a prostitute,
but you're not one, are you?
The radio went silent and the interview ended.
You gotta love the Marines!

Domestic WMD, Believe it |
|
Hi
John,
Thank you for taking my call and allowing me to present
my points of view on your show.
Here is an interesting subject for your show. A subject
that should be near and dear to your heart. How about
the United States of America's sponsoring a domestic WMD
policy that is now, yes, right now, being used on it's
citizens everyday. You and your family included John.
This should really concern and upset you. What you say,
the US using WMD on it's peoples! No way. Our elected
officials would not do this to us. Yea, right.
Take a read through
the included attachment.
The proof is in what this President and administration
has allowed to continue. John, who in their right mind
would undermine, weaken and relax the Environmental Protection
standards that were put into place to protect the peoples
of the Northeast. Soot, Pollution, Acid rain. All poisonous
forms of WMD and you, your family and all of us are being
poisoned daily, thanks to this administration. Doesn't
that scare you, it does me?
John, I'm not a Republican as you probably can tell, but,
I am also not a Democrat. What I am is an old American
male who cares about the future of our great country and
I feel sad and frustrated at what I see our government
doing to it's people, in the name of reviving our economy.
(More like reviving corporate profits). What I see this
President and administration doing to the American public
is a crime against all of us. How many thousands of our
peoples have serious health problems as a result of this
policy? How many have died? How healthy will your children
and grandchildren be, because of this administrations
folly?
As a talk show host, you are in a position to take a stand
and present this disturbing information to your listening
public, to take a stand for the millions of our citizens
who are impacted. As an "Independent Man", how
can you allow this to continue without questioning or
commenting? You are in a position where your show could
make an impact How about taking on this issue on your
show. Let the chips fall where they may. Let's call a
spade a spade. This President and administration is slowly
killing us. All kidding aside, this is a deadly serious
life or death issue. Take a stand John. As our President
has said, "you are either with the coalition or you
are against us". Which are you John? Are you with
this administrations coalition (Republicans and Big Business)
and it's environmental policies or are you with the American
peoples and their sufferings, thanks to this administration?
Thank you for your time again. I hope you will take a
stand and present this serious issue on your show.

I
am appalled that anyone from PETA would be anxiously awaiting
"the first crack of the bat of baseball season."
Do you know how many baseballs they utilize at ONE major
league baseball game!?!?! How many cows had to shed their
skin for that "first crack of the bat?"
Long live PETA they provide more humor in a year than

The Soaps |
|
Rhode
Island males should be thankful that there spouses can
not stay home and watch the soaps. The females are emotionally
gifted, the males are morally bankrupt and both are intellectually
challenged. I was back in Rhode Island to do close our
facility down and I listen to the show it is similar to
professional wrestling. I am glad you found a subject
that fits your audience. A show like yours should stay
on the provincial issues of the area, such as why are
there so many empty buildings and shopping centers, and
then the ghettos. I cannot believe the ghetto around Brown
University an ivy league school can't get that area torn
down and redeveloped into better apartments for students.
the other ghettos were Federal Hill, Pawtucket, Cumberland
and West Warwick were the worst. The funny thing I saw
was at Emerald Square mall was a trailer park across from
the mall. I saw numerous trailer parks all over the state.
The worst thing I saw were the housing projects all over
the area. If anybody who ever served in the military can
tell a housing project these stick out like sore thumbs
and it looks like mostly people of European descent in
the less urban areas. In the urban areas it was more of
the stereotype, minorities. The people of Rhode Island
need to look at their history of old Newport then look
at the disparity of there neigborhood. Rhode Islanders
are an ignorant people.

Challenge |
|
Hello
John,
I am a faithful listener but do not agree with most of
what you say. I'm hoping to appeal to your open-minded
and compassionate side. I challenge you to read "Dominion"
by Matthew Scully. He served as special assistant and
senior speechwriter to President George W. Bush and has
also written for vice presidents Dan Quayle and Dick Cheney.
He is also a conservative republican. Oh...did I get your
attention? Read it before you go on the air and discount
it as rubbish. I dare you. It's a tough read, and the
truth is painful so maybe you won't be up to the challenge.
I hope you are. If so, there is hope for this world after
all.

The Speech The World Deserves... |
|
Hi
John. You Might Want To Read This To Your Listeners To
Provoke Some Call-Back's... I Loved IT! Kevin McBride
Long Time Noon Listener... Occasional 11:00 P.M. Viewer
The
Dream What follows is the text of a presidential address
to be given by President Bush on July 4, 2003. The source
of this material remains unidentified... My fellow Americans:
As you all know, the defeat of Iraq's regime has been
completed. The discovery and destruction of all weapons
of mass destruction have been covered thoroughly in the
press. A new Iraqi government has been established and
appears to be stable. Our mission in Iraq is complete.
This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of
all American forces from Iraq. This action will be complete
within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.
Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names
of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq
conflict. This list is short. The United Kingdom, Spain,
and Austalia are some of the countries listed there. The
other list contains everyone not on the first list. Most
of the world's nations are on that list. My press secretary
will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.
Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign
aid to those nations on List 2 ceases immediately and
indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone
will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war. The
American people are no longer going to pour money into
third world hell-holes and watch those government leaders
grow fat on corruption. Need help with a famine? Wrestling
with an epidemic? Call France. In the out years, together
with Congress, I will work to re-direct this money toward
solving the vexing social problems we still have at home.
I am ordering the immediate withdrawal of all US forces
from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and all other Middle Eastern
nations. Leave us alone. Solve your own damn problems.
Need help? Call Germany. On that note, a word to terrorist
organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down
and eliminate you and all your relatives from the face
of the earth. Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize?
Try France, or maybe China. Regarding the nation of Israel,
I have this to say. It seems like everybody has forgotten
what happened to European Jewry during the 1930s and World
War II. Our nation will never permit the destruction of
Israel. No way. Period. Nevertheless, to Israel and the
Palestinian Authority. Yo, boys. Yank yer heads outta
rectal defilade and work out a peace deal. Just note that
Camp David is closed. Maybe all of you can go to Russia
for negotiations. They have some great palaces there.
Big tables, too. I'm ordering the immediate severing of
diplomatic relations with France, Germany, and Russia.
Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from
NATO as well. Bon chance, mes amis. I have instructed
the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN
diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than
two unpaid tickets to sites where those vehicles will
be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't give a damn
about whatever treaty pertains to this. Pay your tickets
tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers, and limos
be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the
world. I love New York. A special note to our neighbors.
Canada is on List 2. Since we are going to be seeing a
lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not
pissing us off for a change. Mexico is also on List 2.
President Fox and his entire corrupt government really
need an attitude adjustment. I have a couple extra tank
and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I'm
gonna put 'em? Yep, border security. So start doing something
with your oil. Oh, the United States is abrogating the
NAFTA treaty --- starting now. It is time for America
to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some
will accuse us of xenophobia. My response is simple and
direct: if you can play that word in Scrabble, do it as
soon as your turn comes round. Some will accuse us of
isolationism. I answer them be saying 'darn tootin'. Nearly
a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around
the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just
about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate
hunger in America. It is time to eliminate homelessness
in America. It is time to eliminate World Cup soccer from
America. We will develop energy independence. We will
restructure our nation for its isolationist destiny. I
will be sending legislation to Congress tomorrow proposing
the first actions that that august body should take as
we move in a new direction. To the nations on List 2,
a final thought. Best wishes. To the nations on List 1,
a final thought. Thanks guys. We owe you. God bless America.

couple quick points |
|
John,
couple quick points.
S. Peterson was arrested and he had $10,000 on him. That's
important because it is the maximum amount you can legally
enter Mexico, or exit the US with. Any more and it has
to be declared. I travel often to Mexico, thus I know.
I haven't heard you mention it the past couple of days,
but it's just more proof, and it's very significant.
About the fish, I've caught the same fish two times in
a row before. You can see the harmless hole through the
cartildge from the hook from the previous catch. It shows
there's no serious harm to the fish, and he cost me a
couple of my shiners! He made out pretty good - two free
meals for a couple minor piercings!
keep up the good work. jesse

Springsteen supports Dixie Chicks-Shouldn't Depetro
fans? |
|
The
Dixie Chicks have taken a big hit lately for exercising
their basic right to express themselves. To me, they're
terrific American artists expressing American values by
using their American right to free speech. For them to
be banished wholesale from radio stations, and even entire
radio networks, for speaking out is un-American.
The pressure coming from the government and big business
to enforce conformity of thought concerning the war and
politics goes against everything that this country is
about - namely freedom. Right now, we are supposedly fighting
to create freedom in Iraq, at the same time that some
are trying to intimidate and punish people for using
that same freedom here at home.
I
don't know what happens next, but I do want to add my
voice to those who think that the Dixie Chicks are getting
a raw deal, and an un-American one to boot. I send them
my support. Bruce Springsteen

While Gene is there with you... |
|
Ask
him: "What's UP with that Brian Crandall from the
Channel 10 News Team?!?"
And WHY is he on the air? So many people ask that incredulously.
I find I can't even look at him while he's on the air
-- and I quickly have to turn to another station. Gene
probably wouldn't say anything over the air -- but you
might be able to ask him on the side!
And as usual, you're right on the money with EVERYthing
today! The 'fish tale' is beyond ridiculous, but I don't
doubt PETA's strength in 'pulling the wool' over people's
eyes and validating their causes!
..and Scott Peterson should FRY (excuse the 'fish' analogy
again!). No doubt about his guilt -- just like O.J.!!
Have a great day. Hope you and your family had a pleasant
Easter.
Coincidentally, my wife and I were in Rome for Good Friday,
and attended services at St. Peter's with the Pope. Of
course, we had no idea about his controversial Encyclical
until we returned to the US, but it was quite a thrill
anyway to see him.
Take care.

Give back the stolen "antiquities" |
|
John,
If there was much ancient (mankinds) history lost in this
Iraqi war, how much was stolen prior to it by the same
(Western) institutions and Museums that are the loudest
condemning the US? Why don't these organizations give
back to the Iraqi's (and all others; ex: Egypt) what is
in their halls(and boxes) of history all that they plundered.
Why are these items now still in the Museums of Berlin,
Paris, Boston, London or New York? Modern "looters" indeed?

"Cafeteria Catholics" |
|
I
had to turn your show off on Good Friday morning, John.
I get tired and irritated listening to callers who describe
themselves as Catholics call in to bash the church because
of some perceived slight or offense. One lady today said
she didn't understand why the church should tell her what's
right and wrong! Look, if your belonged to a country club
and you decided that you could set your own par do you
think your score would be validated? If you don't like
the rules of the Roman Catholic Church or its interpretation
of morality, go find another church that more closely
matches your value system. There are plenty of them in
Rhode Island. I have a suspicion that most of the Catholic
bashers that call talk shows are those who show up at
Mass once or maybe twice a year. The only other times
they set foot in church is for their kids' baptism, first
communion and confirmation and for weddings and funerals.
At these services they'll go tripping up the aisle to
receive the Eucharist and then call a talk show or write
a letter to the editor decrying this or that rule or what
some priest allegedly told them.
Signed,
Participating Catholic

I
was the guy with the story about the kid with the burning
coat. Superior to the story that eventually won, but the
kids win out I guess. Some details of those days are very
hazy, but I remember Sister Bonavita (very sweet), Mrs.
Murtaugh, Mrs. O'Leary, Sr Elsabet (a tyrant), Sr Raynarda
(sp?) and a few others. Msr Canning was there when I first
attended, and I remember a Mother Immacule (sp?). Even
met the current principal at a gig I did for her husband's
retirement.
Graduated
from BHHS in '65 and also worked at 'DOM at PC as did
you? (Thought you didn't do Catholic college?)

Clear Channel- dare you to post this! |

Rally
for America,"the supposedly politically neutral,
homegrown events that started sprouting up in cities across
the nation earlier this year, drew thousands of flag-waving,
Dixie-Chick-hating folks who favor President Bush's war
with Iraq.
The rallies also drew their fair share of criticism. Though
sponsored by local radio stations, those stations share
a common owner: the Texas-based Clear Channel Worldwide,
Inc., a media giant with a nationwide network of 1,240
radio stations - and a clear line to Bush.
Numerous media outlets have raised questions about "Rally
for America": Was it appropriate for a major media
company to sponsor -- and then cover -- "patriotic"
support-the-troops rallies? Of course not, but what do
ethics matter when friends are involved?
It's no coincidence that Clear Channel executives Tom
Hicks and L. Lowry Mays have contributed tens of thousands
of dollars to Bush's gubernatorial and presidential campaign
coffers. Or that Clear Channel gave $119,370 in "soft
money" to Republicans in 2001-2002, this on top of
the $82,850 it gave in 2000. (Democrats, meanwhile, got
$25,000 in soft money in that same three-year period.)
Or that Clear Channel stations have been known to pull
radio ads criticizing Republicans.

all Republicans, Bush in particular.

Re: Keith from Tiverton 4/10/03 |

I
am writing in regards to the caller Keith from Tiverton.
I too have heard both him and the Hate Radio show, Rick
Adams on w.a.l.e. I really tried to listen to him and
that show with an open mind. I have to say, both the host

two birds hate, I mean hate, Jewish people (I happen to
be) and Hate President Bush. They do have many sick callers
who do call your show, such as, Charlie on a cell phone,
Lorrie from Cranston, Harry on a cell phone, Tim of the
green party. Poor Tim an Lorrie are the only ones who
aren`t crazy. Keith is the worst of all. A pure Nazi.
He's proud of it. I listen to your show and David B. in
Boston. I am very open minded an fair. This Rick, Larry,
and Keith are full of bigotry and hate. As a Jew, I feel
in the line of fire when I listen to this stuff. Mr. Adams
also likes to make fun of you John, when the opportunity
makes itself available. I remain a faithful listener to

100 Lashes ( good joke ) |
|
An
American, a Dutchman and a Frenchman are in Saudi Arabia,
sharing a smuggled crate of booze when Saudi police rush
in and arrest them. The mere possession of alcohol is
a severe offense in Saudi Arabia, so for the terrible
crime of actually being caught consuming the booze, they
are all sentenced to death!
However, after many months and with the help of very good
lawyers, they are able to successfully appeal their sentences
down to life imprisonment. By a stroke of luck, it was
a Saudi national holiday the day their trial finished,
and the extremely benevolent Sheikh decided they could
be released after receiving just 20 lashes each of the
whip.
As they were preparing for their punishment, the Sheikh
announced: "It's my first wife's birthday today,
and she has asked me to allow each of you one wish before
your whipping."
The Dutchman was first in line, he thought for a while
and then said: "Please tie a pillow to my back."
This was done, but the pillow only lasted 10 lashes before
the whip went through. When the punishment was done he
had to be carried away bleeding and crying with pain.
The Frenchman was next up. After watching the Dutchman
in horror he said smugly: "Please fix two pillows
to my back." But even two pillows could only take
15 lashes before the whip went through again and the Frenchman
was soon led away whimpering loudly (as they do).
The American was the last one up, but before he could
say anything, the Sheikh turned to him and said: "You
are from a most beautiful part of the world and your culture
is one of the finest in the world. For this, you may have
two wishes!"
"Thank you, your Most Royal and Merciful highness",
the American replied. "In recognition of your kindness,
my first wish is that you give me not 20, but 100 lashes."
Not only are you an honorable, handsome and powerful man,
you are also very brave". The Sheikh said with an
admiring look on his face. "If 100 lashes is what
you desire, then so be it. "And your second wish,
what is it to be?" the Sheikh asked.
The American replied: "Tie the Frenchman to my back."

Grammer Lesson
It seems Kelsey Grammer doesn't mind going against the
tide in Hollywood. He's one of a small handful of celebrities
who has openly supported President Bush.
Now he is using his television show as a vehicle to express
appreciation to those who serve in the military.
The actor has a standing instruction to the staff of "Frasier"
that families of military personnel or veterans who attend
tapings will be seated where they belong - in the front
row. Grammer has also made it a point to meet with guests
personally.
The Enquirer reports that at a recent taping, two women
in their 70s were escorted up to meet Grammer. When he
inquired about which branches of the service they were
from, they said, "We're soldiers in The Salvation
Army." Apparently not one to nitpick, Kelsey saluted
the ladies and gave them some autographed pics.
The Left Coast Report hopes this kind of gesture becomes
a permanent fixture in Hollywood.
5. Not
a Rosie Reception
Remember early in the war when the press reported that
the coalition forces were running into surprising Iraqi
resistance? Rosie O'Donnell recently experienced a bit
of hostile resistance herself.
O'Donnell was to receive the Vito Russo Award at a fund-raising
dinner for Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.
The actress apparently defended Michael Moore's anti-Bush
Oscar rant. She engaged in some perfunctory Bush-bashing
and claimed that the war was "killing Iraqi women
and children."
The New York Post reported that Rosie then heard some
sounds that she probably never expected to hear from a
gathering of this type: boos.
The Left Coast Report says it just goes to show that people
from all points on the political spectrum understand that
denigrating the commander in chief at a time when the
bullets are still flying demands the appropriate response:
a healthy dose of righteous heckling.
6. Truth
and Consequences for Sarandon
Has appeasement activist Susan Sarandon ceased being a
disciple of all things Hillary? Maybe for the moment.
Sarandon was asked by the hosts of ABC's "The View"
to comment on the U.S. senator's support of the war in
Iraq. Sarandon offered this remark: "Yeah. I'm very
disappointed in Hillary."
Sarandon's scheduled appearance as a speaker for a United
Way charity event in Tampa was canceled after organizers
received complaints. When the actress appeared on a British
show, "So Graham Norton," one of her patented
Bush-bashing episodes had to be edited out. And the Baseball
Hall of Fame just rescinded a 15th anniversary celebration
of "Bull Durham" that was supposed to include
Susan and beau Tim Robbins.
Hall of Fame President Dale Petroskey, a former White
House assistant press secretary under Ronald Reagan, wrote
in a cancellation letter, "We believe your very public
criticism of President Bush at this important -- and sensitive
-- time in our nation's history helps undermine the U.S.
position, which ultimately could put our troops in even
more danger."
Sarandon told reporters, "I thought the best way
to protect those troops is to keep them out of harm's
way completely and to not put people into the hellish
situation of war." Do you suppose next that Sarandon
will suggest that to protect firefighters we not put them
into the hellish situation of fighting fires?
Robbins addressed the cancellation remarks in an open
letter: "To suggest that my criticism of the president
put the troops in danger is absurd ..." The actor/director
then launched the usual attack on Petroskey's Republican
pedigree with these words: "Your subservience to
your friends in the administration is embarrassing to
baseball and by engaging in this enterprise you show that
you belong with other cowards and ideologues in a hall
of infamy and shame."

show today |
|
Listened
to your show today. Once again you showed very poor taste
in describing the recent events in Africa. Saying things
like those people are savages only insights racist feelings.
I guess we should assume that only countries whose brutal
dictators are Arab can expect the United States to ride
to the rescue. Mugabe can rest easy tonight.
You asked what gave Assad the right to rule his country.
Nothing. Nothing but the sovereign right of nations to
rule themselves. Are we going to China, North Korea, Iran, lybia,
Vietnam, and half of the old Soviet Union to "free"
those people? I think not.
You are most certainly not independent. You said today
in passing that their is great waste in the federal governments
budget. Ok. Care to prove it. See if you can find 550
billion in wasteful spending. Medicaid, veterans benefits,
Medicare, social security or the military which shall
it be. You get your marching orders from the RNC or some
such. the only comfort I take in knowing that is that
none of what you spout really means anything.

the Iran-Iraq War. Over 100,000 Kurds killed or "disappeared".
An estimated 1,000 Kuwaiti nationals killed following
the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. No reliable figures for
the number of Iraqis killed during the Gulf War, with
estimates varying from as few as 1,500 to as many as 200,000.
No reliable figures for the number of Iraqi dissidents

estimates put the figure between 60,000 and 100,000. Approximately
500,000 Iraqi children dead because of international trade

Saddam's Stabbin' Cabin |
|
IF
THIS BUNKERS-A-ROCKIN' DON'T COME A-KNOCKIN'
As
looting continued throughout Baghdad, American troops
conducted a raid on one of Saddam's secret palaces, located
south of Tikrit in northern Iraq. Instead of finding fierce
resistance from Republican Guard units, Coalition troops
discovered an abandoned, palace, lavishly decorated in
mid to late seventies decor. As troops entered the compound,
a sign written in Arabic conspicuously hung over the palace
gate, greeted them. In an effort to gather intelligence,
NSA Middle Eastern Language Analysts were brought in to
translated the cryptic sign which read: "Welcome to the
Stabbin' Cabin. Leave your inhibitions at the Door." "It
was clearly evident that we found the secret compound
where Saddam would often bring women to woo and seduce
them," states Corporal John Holmes. Field Reports detail
a lavish palace with wall to wall black marble floors
sparsely covered with blue and pink shag carpets, and
red artificial lights. According to some military eyewitnesses
the compound had the look and ambience of a Las Vegas
brothel and reeked with cheap cologne.
The
second floor brought more discoveries. Mirrored ceilings
and heart shaped rotating beds, complete with oversized
lava lamp decorated each of the 30 "love-nasiums." It
seems that each bedroom had a specific "theme." The north
bedroom had a jungle theme, complete with stuffed monkeys,
coconut trees and hammock while the bedrooms on the east
wing had a "Roman" theme characterized by gladiator figures
and grape leaves. The more contemporary rooms had a "Playas
Crib" ambience, paying homage to such "smooth cats" as
Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. "The ambience and theme variation
from room to room is staggering, however what stays constant
through all bedrooms is the music. CDs from such artists
as Marvin Gaye, Sinatra and Eric Clapton could be found
littering the floors. CIA Analyst comment that Saddam
would often seduce women with 80's Power Ballads. "Journey,
Clapton and even some Barry White are characteristic of
Saddam's style," comments CIA's Middle Eastern Analyst,
Peter North. It is widely noted that Saddam was a real
playboy, he liked the ladies and would often do the horizontal
mambo with 3 to 4 a day. According to a former Iraqi security
member, he earned himself the reputation as a "playa"
which helped to incite the volatile situation in the Middle
East. Middle Eastern leaders would often get frustrated
over Saddam's refusal to "hook a brotha up." "He is notoriously
brutal and notoriously greedy at the same time, and would
often "c-block" other leaders in their hook up attempts
" claims a former Iraqi security member.
One of Saddam's personal bodyguards, claims that Saddam
idolized such legendary studs as Huge Hefner, Tom Jones
and Snoop Dogg. Often, he would mimic the life-styles
of these "Masters of the Booty," cloaking himself in red
Silk pajamas and oversized gold medallions This persona
helped to earn him the nickname "Big Daddy The Pimpin'
Mut*a F**cka." North continued, "He was a real smooth
talker and no one can take away his skills with the ladies.
He knows how to score and would study the art of seduction
to the point where he would elevate it to an art form."
CIA Analysts comment that Saddam knew all the angles.
He knew that musicians would score alot of women, so as
a result, he would often swoon women with his "rockous"
mandolin and "dangerous" flute playing. "For a ruthless
dictator, he sure know how to party, he would rock out
Whitesnake style," states Sgt. Ron Jeremy of the 1st Infantry
Division. Each of the 10 refrigerators found, were filled
with Cristal and Moet champagne and such delicacies as
Caviar and Pepperidge Farms Cheese and Sausage logs. Pictures
of naked women fornicating, adorned the walls and large
leather couches sprawled across a large room made out
to resemble an ancient Roman Ball room. However, Saddam
was very conscious of practicing safesex. Signs that state,
"remember to wrap the pickle," were everywhere as a constant
reminder.
Brigade
General Vincent Brooks comments, "If he wasn't such a
punk bit*h, I would love to rock out Saddam style." Regarding
the secret swinger lifestyle of Saddam Heussin, Gen. Brooks
only comment was, "secrets, secrets are no fun, secrets
secrets hurt someone."

Love your show, BUT... |
|
Hi,
John. I am a faithful listener of your show, and, like
you, I am absolutely a fan of Mr. Rumsfeld. I never miss
any of his appearances on Meet the Press, I even taped
them!! He's amazing, and the sharpest Defense Secretary
in my recent memory. But, accolades aside, John, I have
to ask (no, BEG) you to PLEASE, PLEASE NEVER HAVE THAT
RIDICULOUS ROD DRIVER ON YOUR SHOW AGAIN!!! I've tolerated
him and his sadly misinformed opinions about the war on
your show before, but when he was on today (Wednesday,
April 16th), he made me nauseous. He has absolutely NO
IDEA what he's talking about, he never gives a straight
answer, and he keeps changing the subject. I have no respect
for anyone who rambles on and on with no point and no
facts whatsoever to base his/her opinions on. This man
is like all the other peace protesters, celebrity or otherwise--ignorant,
misinformed and unwilling to admit they were wrong. So,
while I really enjoy listening to you and your other callers
and guests, I refuse to be forced into listening to morons
like Rod Driver. Keep us the great work!! Rummy for President!!
Best
wishes,
G. LaMorge, Cranston, RI
P.S.
I know there's probably nothing you can do about this,
but there are just TOO MANY COMMERCIALS AND INTERRUPTIONS
DURING YOUR PROGRAM. Thanks again!

Rod Driver |
|
I
think I'm on to something here ..
Mr Driver ran as an independant for office and didn't
win,
He ran as a Democrat and didn't win,
This last election he ran as a Republican and again didn't
win.
Listening to Rod Driver on your show I get the feeling
he may be running as a candidate for tha Ba'ath Party
next election.

Book review |
|
Hi
John,
I'm a big fan of yours whenever I'm near a radio. I have
a question for you concerning a book that a friend lent
me to read and I really don't want to waste my time with
it if it turns out to be Liberal garbage. The book is
entitled, "Forbidden Truth" U.S.-Taliban secret
oil diplomacy and the failed hunt for Bin Laden. It's
by Jean-Charles Brisard & Guillaume Dasquite.' A red
flag goes up on the first page with a quote from the Los
Angeles Times, not to mention, that two Frenchmen wrote
it. My question is, fact or fiction? Thanks John and keep
up the good work.
Sincerly,
Joe Alves Jr.
Taunton, Ma.

Rod Driver |
|
John:
Enjoy the show very much, but I can't listen any longer
when you bring in Rod Driver. He does exactly what he
accuses everyone else of doing--makes grandiose statements
that either can't be proven, or focus on a tiny sliver
of a much larger issue. I get it John! His views border
on the ridiculous, he agrivates listeners and makes for
caller volume and confrontation. But it really is a one-trick
pony. Once or twice was OK, but to listen to this man
time after time, espousing the same pro-arab, anti-Israel
rhetoric, is just too much. I shut off the show today,
and will continue to do so whenever Driver appears.
Thanks
for the time,
Dave From Lincoln.

War in Iraq |
|
John,
I have been listening to your show for the last 3 weeks,
and I must say I love it. I did want to say something
that maybe you could use as some discussion about this
war and country.
One
word to use for this country is "unfaithful" "not loyal",
we praise one minute and condemn the next. This country
has no backbone, always wavering their opinions. What
ever happened to staying behind your leader no matter
how tough it gets. Being loyal, knowing people are human
and they make mistakes, and we need to be able to give
them the room to make mistakes. We focus on the negative
instead of the positive. Things get tough, we hate it,
we complain but god forbid we knew what it was like to
live in Iraq or some 3rd world country, or to know what
it's like to suffer a little. I think many of us are spoiled
brats, and we forget how lucky we are. People need to
trust the ones they put in office, and not mock them unless
they do , do something that is out right wrong, and so
fare Bush has been as loyal and in control as he said
he would be. No lies, no gimmicks, just the plain truth.
But why did people like Clinton better who did lie, who
did twist things wrong, but he listened to the people
and there pocket books were ok, and they did not suffer
much, they could care less and liked him. What's wrong
with that picture... Thanks for the time...

There
was a broadcast from Geraldo Saturday night from a weapons

Misguided hollywood people |
|
Good
Morning John,
It would be very interesting to know how many of the people
in Hollywood, (I don't feel they deserve to be referred
to as "STARS" as a "STAR" shines "BRIGHT"
and I feel these people just plain lack the luster and
brightness) belong to Scientology.
I had the displeasure of experiencing how that works and
the brain washing that takes place during your initiation
into such a misguided group of people.
I see a lot of the anti-government statements that was
drilled into your head coming from these people in Hollywood.
I was not allowed to bring in a newspaper to work to read
during my lunch break as they felt the government sends
misinformation thru the media and subliminal messages,
therefore it was a negative stigma that could disrupt
the atmosphere of the office. They also had there scientology
ticker that ran across our computer screen with their
views, beliefs and quotes from L. Ron Hubbard.
This is just one of the ways they pushed their views on
people and expected you to at least keep an open mind
on their views, yet keep your own thoughts and ideas to
yourself.
Another tactic used to brainwash you was to use another
practice called "Bull- Bating.
Two people sit in a chair across from each other with
knees touching and stair at each other for 1 minute with
out any movement, expression or sound. You the continue
this process and increase the number of minutes until
your up to 15-20 min. possibly longer. If you move, make
an expression or make a sound you start over.
You then "graduate" to sitting in the chair
while someone attempts to break this concentration by
yelling at you, calling you names, make fun of you and
use any tactic they can think of to make you move, make
any sound or show any kind of expression.
Could you shed some light on this??? I believe Woody Haroldson
(sp) belongs to this group as well as the others we are
hearing from.
Thank You,
Wendy Martin

Whose Next? |
|
You
got your war, and perhaps even several upcoming attractions.
Liberation probably won't be terribly meaningful to the
dead and maimed, but this war really wasn't about liberation,
was it John? Jingoism and Mccarthyism thrive in the land
of corporate greed. While this boy will never be the same
again, it is comforting to know that Haliburton, Bectel,
and Boeing will profit from his missing limbs. Pax Americana,

no more independent |
|
John,
You are no more independent than the most right wing republican.
I listen to your show often. Frankly your views and your
additude toward those who disagree with you are nearly
childlike. I hear you spout on and on about the war in
Iraq as if its outcome is totally know to us. It is not.
Iraq is not Germany. It is no homogenious and governing
it will be difficult if not impossible. We could end up
with an Islamic republic in Iraq that hates the United
States with far more zeal than Saddam ever did.
Today you have been playing trial balloon launcher. If
this administration does decide to attack Syria the United
States will certainly appear to have colonial designs
on arab lands. You argue that might makes right or some
such simplistic notion. Please explain to me why the Israeli's
are still subject to attack? They have been responding
to violence violently for generation and are no closer
to peace. If we stay in Iraq, and we must, we will soon
become occupiers, and the memories of our troops as liberators
will fade. Bagdad could become our version of Gaza. Now
you are advocating an invasion of Syria. Obviously you
have become unstrung.

Re: from a freshman at mount pleasant 4/14/03 |

Don't
worry where you are from, it is where you are going that
matters. Follow a good basis of ethics. I know public
role models are in short supply in your state, your four
elected congressional and senate members leave a lot to
be desired your city is finally are rid of Buddy Cianci.
Your business leaders also are unethical Terry Murray
of FleetBoston and Tyco's CEO. You are in a difficult
state for ethics and integrity but it is finally improving.
The elected officials you have are good they have integrity.
If you can move out of state and be adaptable to other
parts of the United States you will do alright. I would
suggest you look at the Rocky Mountain region to learn
a valuable lesson in how to treat people.

War |

Hussein
is/was an evil man, he needed to be removed/killed. What
gets me is this "shootem-up" attitude you promote.
An often DePetro quote "Iraq is first to go, Syria's
next, then Iran....... (with the american anthem playing
in the background)". War is tough for me to stomach,
sometimes necessary (as with Hussein). Diplomacy has to
be sought first! I think it's dangerous to promote this
"you're not with us, then your're against us, don't
agree with us, we'll kick your ass too".
I wonder if you'd promote this cowboy attitude if your
children (when they get older) get drafted and are poised
to be sent to these 3rd world toilets to get killed.

Hey
John,
I love your show. I'm a 15 yr old guy and I'm a freshman
at mount pleasant high (I'm a victim of circumstance)
I catch your show when I can and I watch most of the simulcast
at 11:30. Something scares me. It seems once you goto
college, you lose all reasoning, and are willing to protest
anything, and everything. So seeing as in a few years
I will be going to college, I was wondering if you had
and tips for holding onto my sanity, and conservatism?
Anyway I just thought you should know that I think you

one day we'll have a bunch of Independent men and women

LETS
KEEP THE FAITH.
HOW
WE TREAT PEOPLE
Five
lessons to make you think about the way we treat people.
1.
First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady. During my second
month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I
was a conscientious student and had breezed through the
questions, until I read the last one: "What is the first
name of the woman who cleans the school?" Surely this
was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several
times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how
would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the
last question blank. Just before class ended, one student
asked if the last question would count toward our quiz
grade. "Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers,
you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve
your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and
say "hello". I've never forgotten that lesson. I also
learned her name was Dorothy.
2.
Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain One night,
at 11:30 p.m., an older African American woman was standing
on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing
rainstorm. Her car had broken down and she desperately
needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the
next car. A young white man stopped to help her, generally
unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s. The man took
her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into
a taxicab. She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote
down his address and thanked him. Seven days went by and
a knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a giant
console color TV was delivered to his home. A special
note was attached. It read: "Thank you so much for assisting
me on the highway theother night. The rain drenched not
only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along.
Because of you, I was able to make it to my dyinghusband's
bedside just before he passed away. God bless you for
helping me and unselfishly serving others," Sincerely,
Mrs. Nat King Cole.
3.
Third Important Lesson - Always remember those who serve.
In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a
10 year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at
a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.
"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked. "Fifty cents,"
replied the waitress. The little boy pulled his hand out
of his pocket and studied the coins in it. "Well, how
much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired. By now
more people were waiting for a table and the waitress
was growing impatient. "Thirty-five cents," she brusquely
replied. The little boy again counted his coins. "I'll
have the plain ice cream," he said. The waitress brought
the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away.
The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left.
When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped
down the table. Theere, placed neatly beside the empty
dish, were two nickels and five Pennies. You see, he couldn't
have the sundae, because he had to have enoughleft to
leave her a tip.
4.
Fourth Important Lesson - The Obstacles in Our Path. In
ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway.
Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would
remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants
and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many
loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear,
but none did anything about getting the stone out of the
way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables.
Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his
burden and tried to move the stone tothe side of the road.
After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded.
After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he
noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had
been. The purse contained manygold coins and a note from
the King indicating that the gold was for the person who
removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned
what many of us never understand! Every obstacle presents
an opportunity to improve our condition.
5. Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts. Many
years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital,
I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering
from a rare & serious disease. Her only chance of recovery
appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year-old
brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease
and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the
illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little
brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing
to give his blood to his sister. I saw him hesitate for
only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying,"Yes
I'll do it if it will save her." As the transfusion progressed,
he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all
did, seeing the color returning to her cheeks. Then his
face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the
doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start
to die right away?". Being young, the little boy had misunderstood
the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his
sister all of his blood in order to save her.
Now you have 2 choices: 1. Delete this email, or 2. Forward
it to people you care about. I hope that you will choose
No. 2 and remember, "Work like you don't need the money,
love like you've never been hurt, and dance like you do
when nobody's watching." NOW more than ever -
Peace...
May God bless you. Pass It On... JP

Thursday's show |
|
Hi
John,
I am a first time e-mailer. I am actually writing under
my husband's sign-on. For some reason my sign-on is not
being recognized.
I
had to write you regarding Thursday's show when you touched
on the subject of the Marine placing the American flag
on Saddam's face. I could not believe how the media made
such a big deal about this incident. To me it looked like
"In your face Saddam." He immediately removed the flag
after he "washed" Saddam's face.
I was at work listening on my headset, which we are allowed
to do, when I heard the subject come up. I was so happy
to hear not only you speak about it, but your callers
were great regarding this Marine. HE DID NOTHING WRONG.
I only wished I could have called at that point, but being
at work, I knew I couldn't. I'm just glad that we can
wear headsets, when the timing is right, and I can listen
to your show. That really made my day. I was so tired
of the bad publicity this Marine received. If the media
can do better, let them go on the front line.
I
think your show is really great. You are providing great
coverage of the war. You also provided great coverage
of Plunder Dome, and unfortunately the Station fire. Keep
up the great job.
Also, I realize you are very busy and you do not have
to respond to this message. I just felt I had to write
to voice my opinion.

MEDIA COVERAGE ON JESSICA LYNCH |
|
Hi
John:
I listen to your talk show almost every day since 9/11
happened. My concern at this time is regarding the media
coverage on 19 yr. old Jessica Lynch. I know this dear
girl has been thru allot but I feel the media is giving
a bit too much coverage on her alone while she is not
the only soldier out there in Iraq. How do you think some
of the families of other fighting soldiers must feel to
hear this day in and day out about Jessica. I do not have
any family members out there but I do know that if I did
I would feel hurt at all the coverage this "one"
soldier is getting. They are all risking their lives out
their to free Iraq. It was Not just Jessica.
I thought this might be a topic to discuss one day on
your program. Thank you for taking the time to read this
email. I think you have a great show. Have a good day.
