Crossing Guards |
|
Since
I am at work I cannot call but this issue is very important
and needs all the positive suggestions possible.
Why can't the beat cop cross the children each day? The
rest of the force can cover Cranston or any other community
for (1). This does not add additional monies and more
important the children get to know the police and the
police get to know the children.
When I went to school the beat cop was the one we saw
every day going and coming from school. They knew all
the kids by name, the good kids and the ones that could
be potential problems in the community.
Lets address this issue for the whole state of Rhode Island.
Thanks

Why
are you allowing your show to be used to scam money from
your listening audience. I wouldn't contibute a dime to

John,
Get that THUG off the air. He's turning my stomach. I
heard enough yesterday! "I Know, just another great man
hiding behind the Bible." If he were speaking at anything
my child had to attend, I wouldn't let it happen. Sorry,
but I had to change the radio station. How can you respect
someone who robbed people, while wearing a jacket with
his name on it?

Walter Barlow |
|
John,
I am going to try to keep this short. I would have to
say that I know Walter Barlow very well. I was also at
the city council meeting last Tue. I observed Kim talking
to Walter at the meeting in the hallway while the meeting
was going on. I did not hear the conversation but it appeared
to be friendly. There is an ongoing joke around the department
about that nut Brenda Hogan. Three Lt's have resigned
their position in about the last year in a half because
none of them can deal with Hogan. Brenda's brother is
a Capt on the police dept and he will have nothing to
do with her because even he knows she's crazy.
The volunteer's once placed a sign on a cat's cage reading
"Murdered by John Smith." John Smith is the
animal control officer. Smith took a cat to the vet and
upon the advise of the vet had the cat put down. Hogan
and her clan went into Smith's office and proceeded to
scream and yell at him. After Smith had told them several
times to leave his office he tried to close his door,
striking one of their feet. Hogan and her crew then tried
to press assault charges against Smith.
Walter Barlow is one of the best officers on our job and
it hurts me to see what is happening. He lost his cool
and if you had to deal with Brenda Hogan, you would probably
lose your cool too. I can assure you that at no time did
Walter Barlow ever mean that he would kill Brenda Hogan
the person. None of those nuts were ever in fear for their
safety. They held on to the tape as leverage until after
the city council meeting. They were waiting to see if
they were going to be reinstated. When they were not the
tape went public (they sound pretty scared to me.) I really
wish you had the chance to meet Walter Barlow, he is one
of the funniest, nicest guys I know. Everyone who knows
Walter likes him. Except for maybe Brenda Hogan or Brenda's
Hogan' ex-husband who Barlow put in jail for 8 years while
she was with him or shortly after.
By the way nice job with that idiot Coogan. I was hoping
you would look at the Attorney's General web sight and
research Brian Coogan. I am sure you will find something
very interesting. You may even be able to see the things
he hasn't had expunged. Thank you and good luck,

pawtucket school walk out |
|
Hi
John... this situation really disturbs me. My daughter
attends Nathaniel Greene and she is in kindergaten. She
is not there for breakfast or lunch, and she has to suffer
being home for a day if not longer. I know for a fact
that a group of mothers offered to go to the school and
make sandwiches and they were turned down flat by the
TEACHERS. Now us working parents will have to deal with
a prolonged school year because of this. This is unjustified.
What has Pawtucket become??? Thank God I just moved to
Cumberland!!!

Hillary's residence in Morocco |
|
A
guy from Morocco that lives on the East Side of Providence
told me Hillary has had a residence in Morocco "in
the hills" ever since the days that Malcom Forbes
had his vacation residence in that location and that Hillary
is there a lot with her daughter. The guy was trying to
emphasize how safe Morocco is.
My spouse thinks this information is questionable because
the Secret Service costs would be off the charts with
the terrorism trends.
Wonder if there is a way to find out the truth.

Why not to do business in Rhode Island |
|
John,
Go back through you website and read letters that were
written by a few people that pointed out why not to business
here. Those people hit it right on the head, maybe President
Bush should have the military invade and occupy Rhode
Island and have a regime change here set up a new constitution
without Rhode Island residents having a say.

gross inequality |
|
John,
I took a look at how many days I work per year and compared
to a fireman's.
I get 8 holidays, 2 weeks vacation and No sick days.
Hard Private Sector Worker ME
365 days a year
- 104 weekends
- 10 vacation days
- 8 holidays
-------
243 WORK DAYS
Fireman's
365 days a year
-183 (4 days on 4 days off)
-20 vacation days
-20 sick days
-14 holidays
-------
128 WORK DAYS
I am working 115 more days a year than the fireman. That
is about 4 months off.
This is wrong. It is very unequal.
They only work 20 years and do not pay for health insurance.
Either they have it right or the private sector has it
right. I think the private sector has it right and these
public jobs are a scam.
Sincerely,
paul

Two of Bob Kerr's articles |

Bob
Kerr uncovers government abuse and doesn't even know it!!!!
Clueless!!!
1. 5/14/03 DCYF - From the Dark to the Light - The DCYF
paid for a kids education and an off campus apartment??
What is this DCYF Educational Trust? Who pays for that?
It is a great story, but what about all the other kids
that want to go to college for Free and live off campus!!!!
Sounds like they need an audit of the DCYF and see who
is getting this college money and how it is being spent.
I could be wrong! But where there is smoke, there is fire.
2.
5/9/03 Training School hires ex-convict. This Peter Slom
was charged with possession and delivery of 1 KILO of
Cocaine!!!! Did the other potential job candidates 6 years
ago realize that because they did not have a criminal
record that that worked against them!!!! I am sure some
very qualified people applied for that training school
job without criminal records, and they did not get hired!
They hired the person with the criminal FELONY record!!!!!!!
Again, who did he know!!!!! We need an investigaton!!!!!!!!

abuse of school officials |
|
John:
I took time out of my lunch break to respond to two situations
you were discussing regarding the Pawtucket and the Johnston
school systems. The reason I called as soon as I heard
what was going on, is that I was both infuriated and firghtened
at what both parents and taxpayers are being subjected
to by their state, town, and, in this case, the schools
to which their children are being entrusted every day.
(Well, NOT today in Pawtucket).
You disconnected me before I could explain what my oldest
son went through during a strip search almost nine years
ago. When my son came home that awful day he was crying
convulsively and screaming "mommy why did you let
them do that to me?" He just kept crying and was
too humiliated to even tell me without his dad present.
He was singled out of his classroom one day and brought
to the principal's office and told to take all his clothes
off. He said that a man in a white jacket handled his
privates (We always taught all our children to never let
anyone touch them, ...only their doctor with a parent
present) and he began to scream for his mom. Regardless
of their reasons for stripping and touching him, certainly
they, being the child "experts" should have
seen his distress and should have called me.
They all knew that I was a stay-at-home mom and I could
be reached any time.
The reason their explanation for this atrocity made no
sense (they claimed this was for medical purposes) is
that he had had a complete physical by his pediatrician
only a couple of months previous and the school received
all the paperwork on this. We sought out help on this
whole issue and an attorney affiliated with The Rutherford
Institute contacted us wanting to prosecute the Swansea
school dept for assault. It became his belief that this
was indeed a strip search in effort to find evidence of
some sort of abuse. My husband and I had been having difficulty
with the school system for some time and we had become
quite vocal about our concerns, as I was trying to explain
on your program. ( I apologize for the fact that I was
unable to organize my thoughts and articulate the story
in a less cumbersome manner.) In the end, our nine-year-old
son became victimized by the school authorities who were
appointed to protect him.
As a result, we stopped the whole legal process and opted
to remove our three children from the school system and
to home school them. It was the best choice we could have
made. It took a long time for all of us to get over this
horror perpetrated on our child. Looking back, it was
nothing short of a nightmare.
The Johnston father should seek out an attorney and prosecute
the individuals who humiliated this young boy in that
manner. Parents need to take back their authority as parents.
The same goes for the parents in Pawtucket. It is about
time for parents to take back their responsibility and
their entitlement as parents. I, for one am greived and
sickkened at the fact that we seem to have bought into
Hillary's philosophy of "It takes a village to raise
a child". That's just socialism. It takes, and has
always taken, two loving parents to raise, nurture, clothe
and nourish a child. And I know that not all parents can
home school as we did, but they can DEMAND that their
teachers educate their children. And you are correct in
saying the system is broken. It is broken and it needs
to be dismantled and restructed from the top down.
Thanks for "hearing" me out.
Donna
P.S.
The really good thing about home schooling is that we
never worried about teacher or cafeteria strikes, snow
days, constant interruptions for disciplining, certainly
no more strip searches!

Texas & Rhode Island |
|
Hi
John
51
Dems from the Texas legislature are hiding in Oklahoma
as a protest against redistricting that seems to favor
Repubs. Quick, close the border!
If this is their best answer to fighting redistricting
that they claim is unfair, they belong in Rhode Island.
This is the type of shennanigans that play out close to
home. Since our Legislature has never had an original
idea can a trip to Oklahoma by the Dems be in the cards?
We
can only hope.

Capt. Barlow |
|
John;
Cox cable in East Prov tapes all city council meetings....
Believe it or not, I was 1 of the few people to stay past
midnite at the meeting last Tuesday and listened to the
testimony of Kim Casci, and John Tabella.
The reason that Capt Barlow was placed in charge was that
the Hogan group had problems with the previous officer.
Chief Dias responded by replacing that individule. And
he placed an officer with an impecable reputation, and
whom he trusted, in charge to "straighten "
the problem out. A Captain !!! In charge of the dog pound!!!
At the meeting Kim Casci replied to a question that "
She had no knowledge of Mrs. Hogan, and had not met her"...
Very different than the discussion today with Mrs. Hogan
telling your audience that she knew that Channel 10 had
the tape and had contacted Cheif Dias. And that she knew
that Chief Dias had refused to listen to the tape previously.
Todays Journal has a letter from Mr, Tabella very critical
of the SPCA!!!! The Society for Prevention of Cruelty
to animals is (in his groups opinion) unfit to be involved
with animal shelters. This is where the Kim Casci/Brenda
Hogan group comes from. At the city council meeting Capt.
Barlow and Cheif Dias had evidence of the professional
testing of the dogs in question, Testing which Ms. Casci
said was invalid because it did not fit her group's criteria!
A city employee of the shelter was presented who is out
on disability due to the attack of a pit bull, which had
been picked up after a viscious attack of a child. This
dog is not dangerious in the opinion of "Defenders
of Animals", as documented by Capt. Barlow that evening.
When it all comes out, Kim, Brenda and all the other PITA
nut cases will be proven responsible for creating a situation
where Capt. Barlow made his unfortunate remarks.
The last question is why would Kim Casci keep copies of
e-mails and record phone conversations (possible illeagle)
with Capt. Barlow if not to attack him???

Brenda Hogan v. E.P. Dog Pound |
|
I'm
writing to ask you to dig a little deeper into the history
of volunteers at the East Providence Dog Pound. The Pound
(as are all others in the state) is a municipal facility
that is under the jurisdiction of the police dept. All
pounds (not private shelters - such as the Providence
Animal Rescue League) are the responsibility of the local
police dept or town council. The Pound must take in all
unwanted and stray animals, as well as those who have
bitten or are under quarantine for rabies exposure. The
sad truth is that all animals in the pound are not good
candidates for adoption.
Brenda Hogan has been trying for years to undermine the
authority of the Animal Control Officers and to run the
pound as a private shelter. Many veterinarians in the
East Providence area will no longer do business with Brenda
because she refused to pay bills for services provided
- usually provided at a significant discount. Funds managed
by Brenda Hogan (over $7000) that were set aside for the
care of the impounded animals are unable to be accounted
for.
At Brenda's insistence, many animals were kept in the
Pound for over a year, during which time their mental
health deteriorated and they became a further danger to
society. At one time, Brenda had over 25 cats that were
sick and not socialized living under deplorable conditions
in the kitchen of the shelter.
While the Captain's remarks were inappropriate and damaging
to his reputation and career, the Pound was finally getting
back on track under his supervision. The adoption numbers
have soared, the Pound has room to take in strays and
turn-ins, the animals are receiving the proper care and
animals that have no hope of a placement in the community
are humanely euthanized without spending months languishing
behind bars.
I know this latest flare-up makes for good radio, but
the Animal Control Officers
that work hard to protect the community and the animals
are in the middle of a mess that they did not create.
They are trying to enforce city and state law while running
a user-friendly municipal facility filled with animals
that need huge amounts of care every day.
Please take a closer at the situation. Ask Brenda where
she is living now and where her RIPAWS animals that are
advertised on her website are housed. Ask her about her
fundraising, if RIPAWS is a licensed shelter and if RIPAWS
has a supervising board of any kind. It's easy to run
a shelter when you have no accountability and no rules
to follow.
Thank you.

"I got da butn" |
|
John,
The Rhode Island House of ill-REP-ute strikes again, this
time in the form of one Mr. Brian Coogan, Dem Rep from
East Prov. John, what was THAT??? If he said "butn, butn,
I've got da butn" one more time on your show today I was
going to drive off the road - from laughter. Mr. Coogan,
aka Bozo Brian is the latest in a long line of barely
literate state reps who've made fools of themselves in
the media. Please explain it to me again John, exactly
why would Governor Carcieri want to meet with this yoyo??
I'm guessing after Don briefly chatted with BB by phone
at his house the Gov determined this guy is a frufru??
I know I would!!
By the way John, you did an awesome job of interviewing
(destroying) Coogan, twice. Ya think Brian knew he screwed
up the first time around so that's why he called you back
again?? You bet he did! But seriously John, I think you
need to put the audio of that interview on your website
for all Rhode Islanders to hear because that attitude
of Coogan's is VERY common on Smith Hill. People need
to know what the reformers are up against with that crowd.
Great show today John. Keep up the great work. Hope to
hear that interview on your site in the future. (if not
in audio form then in printed transcript form??)

LAFFEY: Determination Equals Success |
|
John,
What a great change it is to have someone like Edgewood
native son, Steve Laffey, running the city of Cranston.
He is someone who cares about "all" of its citizens--
unlike the sleeze of Buddy Cianci and John Harwood --
corrupt powerbrokers with big egos, crooked deals, fiscal
irresponsibilty and political servitude to their political
cronies. With Laffey at its helm... I see alot of light
at the end of the tunnel for Cranston. With his management
skills and fiscal reponsibility-- Cranston has what it
needs at this difficult time. If I had one word to describe
Steve Laffey-- it is "determination" --- and his determination
will result in success. Phil... from Edgewood

Subject: Gold Star Mothers
Please take a moment to read this. If this won't hack
you off
Nothing will...
Gold Star Mothers
You really should be sitting down when you read this one.
Gold Star Mothers is an organization made up of women
whose Sons were killed in
military combat during service in the United States Armed
forces. Recently a delegation of New York State Gold Star
Mothers made a trip to Washington, DC, to discuss various
concerns with their Elected representatives. According
to published reports, there was only one politician who
refused to meet with these ladies. Can you guess which
politician that might be?
Was it New York Senator Charles Schumer? Nope, he met
with them. Try again.
Do you know anyone serving in the Senate who has never
showed anything but contempt for our military? Do you
happen to know the name of any politician in Washington
who's husband once wrote of his loathing for the military?
Now you're getting warm! You got it!
None other than the Queen herself, Hillary Rotten Clinton.
She refused repeated requests to meet with the Gold Star
Mothers. Now, please don't tell me you're surprised. This
woman wants To be President of the United States --- and
there is a huge percentage Of Voters who are eager to
help her achieve that goal.
May you sleep in peace always...and please...hug or thank
a Veteran for that privilege.
Think about this one!!!
Don't forget, our girl, Hillary Rodham Clinton, as a New
York Senator, now comes under this fancy congressional
Retirement and Staffing Plan.
It's common knowledge that, in order for her to establish
NYS residency, they purchased a million+ dollar house
in upscale Chappaqua, NY. Makes sense. Now, they are entitled
to Secret Service protection for life. Still makes sense.
Here is where it becomes interesting. The mortgage payments,
hover at about $10,000 per month. BUT, an extra residency
had to be built within the acreage in order to house the
Secret Service agents. The Clinton's now charge the Secret
Service $10,000 monthly rent for the use of said Secret
Service residence and that rent is just about equal to
their mortgage payment, .... meaning that we, the tax
payers, are paying the Clinton's mortgage, their transportation,
their safety and security, their 12 man staff, and it's
all perfectly legal.
Sincerely, Cdr. Hamilton McWhorter USN (ret)

East Providence Cop -Michael Kent arrested for
the same thing!!! |

John:
Michael
Kent was arrested for the same thing when he said he was
going to kill the fire inspector. They Charged him. Mayor
Cicilline said he takes those threats very seriously!!!
Doesn't someone in East Providence take those threats
seriously?
The
Police Officer saying he is going to destroy that animal
organization should be enough to send him packing. He
is going to use all his powers, meaning his official powers
to get rid of them. Isn't that an abuse of his powers
as a law offical. It is a total abuse of power!!!!! and
sounds like a coverup to boot!!

sorry and hello |
|
Hi
John,
This is Frankie from Warwick. I want to apologize for
hanging up today on your show it could not be helped.
Before I spoke to you I told the person who picks up the
calls that I only had a few minutes because I had to pick
up my mother then get my son from school who is only 7
years old. While I was talking to her, I said I didn't
want to speak to you but just wanted a message sent to
you that I agreed with the previous caller that there
are 2 sides to the story.
I did not agree w/ the chief or captain who ever he was,
because he was wrong, but something must of gotten him
so angry, something must have been said from the other
party that hit his heart that made him hurt to have triggered
him to say what he had said, like what the journal had
done the day before about Major Dennis Simmeneau. She
said at your office, Oh, do you no Him? I said yes he
is a friend. She said oh we were trying to get a hold
of him yesterday. I said yes I heard from others John
was saying some pretty bad stuff, "like once the
journal reported the truth about the Major, now the Major
can't be found". I was like "What why does stuff
like that have to be said"? There are hundreds of
listeners out there that don't even know him and now they
are listening to all this garbage". The truth is
the Major is now retired. She said yeah now we know. I
told her, and now it's happening again on the show. I
thought John was an Independent man. There are 2 sides
to a story. You don't know why he said what he said. BUT,
the Journal knows exactly what was said in court when
Dennis testified for 2 1/2 hours on everything including
on what the journal wrote and what the journal wrote was
not the truth. BUT they go ahead and ONLY print garbage
when they know the truth. I started to tell the person
who answered your phone today the truth on the guy who
made it into the academy that he didn't make the 1st school
2 years ago, and.... and then she said hold on speak to
John and I started to say I don't have time, and then
I was put on hold. When you came on, I was expecting to
give the example of the journal and the story of how they
twisted the Major's truth and what the journal wrote about,
but you wouldn't let me I just wasn't ready to give you
an analogy of this cop of east providence and this other
problem. When you came back to me with your listeners
not wanting to here what I had to say, and interrupting
me everytime I was trying to say something I just couldn't
continue because all I had on my mind was the being on
time for my son when he got out of school and me being
there. I am sorry and didn't mean to disrespect you on
your show. Please except my apology. Frankie from Warwick.
Maybe see ya at Conte's some day.
I do know providence has lost one of the most honest police
officers they have ever had, and I do know that Dennis
is a kind person. Maybe if you sat down with him and had
a Coke (soda) and actually got to know him you would say
hmmmm, I stand corrected.
Because I thought as an independent man unless you really
new you really don't know.
I am an independent but there's 1 thing I refuse to do
and that is to "Judge" anyone.
The reason why I could not think of an analogy today is
because I just don't think that way.
I have now been listening to your show @ 5 months now
as a single mom of a 7 year old miracle son, he and I
have now have put you and your family on our prayer list
for health and prosperity.
God Bless. Frankie

Re: Time for Providence to free small property
owners to make money |
|
You
have lived in Rhode Island for thirty years, and you haven't
tried to vote these clowns out of office, you could have
moved to a different state if you are serious about business.
The people of Rhode Island have it so ingrained the government
is the way to get things done. How many people were brought
up to get a government job for security and benefits?
Or work in the parents business and take it over which
is very appropriate it is a great way to build generational
wealth. I don't see any grass roots effort to change the
laws and regulations. You are still trying to change you
state constitution to balance the powers of the three
branches. You are 226 years later than the rest of the
country it is time to become part of the 1990's instead
of the late 1600's and early 1700's. Your newest mall
is 1970's design and that was built with taxpayers money.
Your residents don't have the assets it takes to create
the businesses that will create large amount of wealth.
I don't know how many millionaires you have in your state
but a million dollars is not a lot of money anymore, with
ten million dollars you can start maneuvering through
the legal system and have some decent investments. Rhode
Island's tax code is very punitive toward people of wealth
if somebody with some money would be better off living
in Massachusetts or Connecticut. New Hampshire would be
better but it far from any metro area.

East Providence Police Captain |
|
Hi
John,
I am listening to todays (May 9th) sho while working.
Based on this man's tone of voice and other portions of
the tape, it seems to me that at that time he really wanted
to kill this woman, and although he would probably never
do so, he truly meant it at the time. I would not have
wanted to be in his presence when he was speaking that
way. He was not just frustrated--but went over the top.
My prime reason for calling, however, although it may
be petty--and it has been a long time since I was in school,
I don't get the "metaphor" response --what is
"Kill Her" a metaphor for? Plus, a metaphor
is a noun, not a verb that last time I knew. If he is
suggesting that the metaphor was "Armegeddon is comingr"
in other words "Watch Out - its all over"--he
is not doing himself a favor by using the word armegeddon.
I truly think this man needs some kind of anger management
training, and at the very least counseling for post traumatic
stress, work burn out, or whatever.

We
are all human right? Let he without sin cast the first
stone.
I am not a policeman nor do I know any of the people involved.
I agree with the policeman that called earlier. There
are 2 sides to every story. The comments may have been
inappropriate but we HAVE only heard them out of context.
Does anyone remember the moving "Twelve angry men". It
is easy to say but not always meant. We are crucifying
this person on air for something we do not know everything
about but that is a standard for Rhode Island.
Another
point is that you yourself stated that it is sweeps time.
Maybe there has been some pumping up going on.

we who have been living here for 30 some years. How about
letting money grow in the neighborhoods? Providence and
other small community inspection departments stiff small
property owners by going after small apartment and store
owners over inane code and zoning stuff to get a piece
of the pie. Are they trying to stymie growth in a dead
city neighborhood or just trying to repress potential
for success, which of course would bring more taxes into
the city?
These unqualified and self-interested inspectors have
never seen successful commerce in a small city evidently,
or else they are too busy trying to get their own bit
of palm money.
So the big excuse is these inspection people are Union
workers, so we have to keep paying them in their city
jobs. Don't care. Time to kick out these Union crooks.
Bring in the office videos and time clocks/sheets. Eliminate
their second jobs.

Dear
Comrade,
The world is full of countries already living your fantasy.
In fact, half of my family were killed escaping from one
such place.
Rather than destroy this one, why don't you migrate to
one already existing. The worker's paradise of Cuba is
the closest. I will even donate a leaky old boat for you
and anyone else who wants to go.
But I warn you, I and my surviving family will fight you
to the death if you try to install that nonsense here.
Sincerely,

Narragansett Indian Tribe |
|
Food
for Thought: Chief Thomas of the Narragansett Indian Tribe
is meeting with the Governor today in an attempt to "enlighten"
him of the importance of having an Indian Casino in Rhode
Island....Also, I was in Evelyn's Villa Thursday, April
24th while the Pawtuxet Valley Chamber of Commerce was
welcoming the Tribe & Harrah's Entertainment into the
chamber. Before the "Business After Hours" event started,
Chief Thomas stood at the bar with a "gentleman of color."
The "gentleman" was toting an exposed gun. A women standing
at the bar was so upset, she left! I really thought it
was against the law for anyone to carry a gun without
it being "concealed." I really felt bad for the terrified
women and I wondered why Chief Thomas needed an armed
bodyguard. The bodyguard appeared to be in his early-mid
twenty's and I wondered if he had a permit to carry a
large handgun. Scary!!

Music |
|
Whenever
I hear the song, "Whispering Hope", I think
of summers at my uncle's summer place at Waterman Lake.
It was a close community, and at night we would all gather
by the fire for a peaceful get-together. Two sisters were
there, and every night we would ask them to harmonize
that song. It was so very beautiful. The memories are
sad, though, as they had a younger brother, about five
years old, who was a real heck-raiser. The following summer,
the residents went back to their tents by the lake, and
it was learned that the boy had a brain tumor. Some time
later I had heard that he passed away. One caller mentioned
"Ave Maria". Whenever my sister hears that she
thinks of her wedding. She wanted it to be played during
the ceremony but the priest refused. He claimed that the
church didn't approve of the version she wanted to be
played, which was the one we usually hear. Here it is,
many years later, and she still feels badly about it.

"You're a Better Man than I!!" |
|
Good
morning, John -- it's Fred from Elmhurst.
I don't know HOW you get through a call like that last
caller "with the heavy accent." It's so typical
of people moving to this country to trash it with the
throwaway excuse that "THIS country is capable of
doing this or that." So typical. And then they wonder
why they're often challenged to move back from where they've
come.
What REALLY scares me more than her baseless accusations
(I was WAITING for her to say maybe Bush had a hand in
"arranging" the events of 9/11!!!)...is the
fact that she might actually BELIEVE her own babble! Very,
VERY scary!!
Have a great day.

Fund Raiser shown on WPRI |
|
John,
Last night I was going to watch CSI, then that horrible
benefit concert was on. I listen to your show when I travel
up here I did not realize how bad the benefit circuit
is here. I saw that article about New England being so
cheap that give very little to charities, I don't blame
the people, if this is the best entertainment to draw
on. A benefit concert should have been in the Providence
Civic Center with really good entertainers. The show was
for 2,300 people and they could not even fill that. I
don't know how much the tickets were they could not have
been more than $20.00 per head with the amateur acts they
had. I have been in Houston for their Rodeo and they will
raise $400,000.00 for student scholarships for the best
steer. That is one company buying that year's best steer.
With that venue they do know how to raise money for many
worth while causes and make revenue for their firms and
have fun doing it. This was about people's lives and they
were lucky if they raised $15,000 with this concert. I
don't know how much the TV Station raised last night.
I hoped they raised something, personally WPRI should
pay the viewers to watch that again and donate all advertising
revenue for one month to the families for making us endure
that garbage. I have to question has the one million dollar
mark been broken yet? This has been over two months, the
example of Houston a couple million dollars would have
been a few weeks working the phones or services needed
at the time would have been given gratis.

Baghdad BOB KERR-- Not On The Winning Team |
|
John,
You have to cut Projo's Baghdad Bob Kerr some slack. He's
upset for being on the "not so victorious team" of Saddam
Hussein, Jacques Chirac, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins,
Rod Driver, etc... Any type of display of American patriotism
will drive him into a frenzy. He hates the colors of red,
white, and blue. And he wishes he could write his column
in a somewhat less than free society. Where will he be
on the 4th of July? .... probably in a deep depression!!!

Re: Marshall Plan for the cities |
|
I
am the caller who proposed a Marshall Plan for the cities.
The point I am trying to make is this "You can either
leave things as they are or you can come up with a "Plan"
to change it" . Just take some time and notice that
the problems of our cities have become the problems of
the "Suburbs", only on a smaller yet growing
scale i.e.; Serious Crime, Drugs, Juvenile Crime, Dirty
Streets, Poor City Services, Corrupt Politicians. Your
writer states "After over forty years and billions
of dollars dumped down the rathole, perhaps it is time
to consider something different." My question to
you is WHAT do you suggest.
Remember, the cities were not built for those who are
now paying rent to live in them now. They were built for
/ by those who now live in the Suburbs, where I might
add they moved after they wore down out the physical structures
and only return to them to collect rent. And don't forget
with the rent they do not repair or keep them up. They
only subsidize there present housing or bank account.
I suggest the writer Read
Death at an Early Age: by Jonathan Kozol, which is
available on "Amazon.Com". and then make a reasonably
rational comment about the Cities.
As for the writers suggestion that a culture has failed,
if they are speaking about the Political Culture I submit
that all political cultures have there failures. If they
are not speaking about the Political Culture then I will
not address that issue in this forum. Your writer also
mentions "In my culture there are plenty of guns,
but there is almost NO violence. I don't even know anyone
from my culture, other than myself, who has ever been
shot at, and that was long ago, by a person of another
culture" does this person even live in America ?
Listen, the bottom line is this We can spend our time
pointing fingers and going back & forth or we can
come up with a concrete, well thought out plan. I think
the most Right Wing Concervative & Left Leaning Liberal
can agree on that much. If not we, or our ancestores,
may be faced with Class Warfare that will probably not
be verbal in nature.

providence taxes |
|
Hi
John,
I listen every day and love your show; however, I cannot
call in because I'm at work.
I just want to voice a complaint about Providence trying
to get money from the state so they don't have to raise
taxes, have layoffs, etc. I'm furious because I live in
Cranston and we're bailing ourselves out -- why should
the state help bail Providence out and not Cranston.
Mayor Laffey is doing a great job trying to correct the
financial woes of the City of Cranston and so should Mayor
Cicillini. It's not right!!
I feel that if the state is going to funnel some money
their way, then they should also funnel money to every
other community in financial trouble. Why should Providence
be any different than Cranston or any other community??
Please stay on this and get the message across to the
Governor.
Thanks alot John,

smoking ban |
|
Hi
John,
I do apologize as I've already emailed you once today,
but I really feel I have to weigh in on the "smoking
ban" issue.
I am totally in favor of the ban. I'm a non-smoker and
have never smoked. I also have asthma. I have no family
history of asthma, but I had two parents who were chain
smokers and as a result developed asthma in my mid-30s.
Twin Oaks is my favorite restaurant; however, I cannot
go to that restaurant without coming home with the stench
of smoke all over my clothes and hair. Even restaurants
with non-smoking sections do not eliminate the problem
all together, especially restaurants like Twin Oaks that
have large bars. The smoke always emanates over to the
non-smoking section which is right adjacent to the bar.
I would be thrilled if RI instituted the ban.
Thanks for listening (or should I say reading) again.

NON-SMOKER AGAINST SMOKING BAN |
|
John,
I do not smoke, and second hand smoke drives my allergies
crazy. I don't even like to be around it, and I actively
avoid it. With that said, it's truly a sad day when the
owner of an establishment cannot decide wether or not
to allow smoking in his or her own private business. I
think anyone who supports this ban is an enemy to personal
freedom, and are incredibly short-sighted.
A private business that wants to permit smoking could
easily put up a "smoking allowed inside" sign,
and thus protect those who don't want to breathe smoke,
including me, by giving them advance warning. I support
the restaurant owners' right to choose.
It is astounding to me that any American could be so cowardly
as to send a government officer in their name to force
a citizen to prohibit smoking in their establishment.
These people are so selfish and short-sighted that it
sickens me. It's truly frightening to me to hear that
so many people want their government to use force on their
behalf to make all places, both public and private, indoors
and outdoors more enjoyable and pleasant for them. It's
selfish beyond my comprehension. The concept of private
ownership means nothing to them, and I am ashamed of them.
Keep up the good work.

Re: state deficit 4/30/03 |
|
John,
I heard the last caller who spoke to the Rep. Williams
and mentioned Empower America. I don't where her district
is but looking at the whole state your state chamber of
commerce better book William Bennet and Jack Kemp ASAP.
With what this program did for The South Bronx which was
very similar to the mill towns of your State it can't
hurt. The only difference is the State of Rhode Island
is predominantly European. Your state residents better
rethink the old image of the Republican Party and being
independent. They don't understand either and they definitely
don't understand economics and what will bring business.
You should read the Op-Ed page in Projo about your friend
Jeff Dederain, you have too many small businesses in Rhode
Island that are incestuous with the government regulators
as this article pointed out. The people of Rhode Island
make fun of the South but who has more newer affluent
areas and have growing economies. Make fun of me while
I go to the bank.

Letter to the Governor |
|
Dear
Mr. Governor,
You again have missed an opportunity to bring higher paying
jobs to the State of Rhode Island. Instead you are listening
to a few residents of the area around Quonset. Where do
you think you are going to get 300 large yachts to moor
in this marina? Look at the numbers there are maybe 25,000
residents that have over a million dollars in assets in
this state. Most people that can afford that size boat
will not live here because of our tax code. Speaking of
boats, was that barge leaking oil off Buzzard Bay built
in Rhode Island?
You also hoodwinked the residents of the state and Providence
with the Gtech deal, you gave away a fortune. The correct
way would be to deregulate and lower taxes to attract
companies, it is time to do what is right. Deregulate
the state laws regarding zoning and business regulations,
in the first place it is none of the states business what
company does as long as it is not illegal by Federal laws.
It has to be this way until this state gets rid of corruption
and this closed society and starts encouraging outside
companies to do business here.
Speaking
of jobs I hope you are not planning on counting these
little minimum wage jobs in the restaurant and parking
industries that were created by Gtech's move to Providence.
Do not include jobs created by Ocean State Job Lot they
averaged $24,000 per year who are they hiring? High School
kids saving for college, college kids working through
school, and retirees who never planned on ever getting
old . The 500 jobs created by Citizens bank are in the
same range $36,000 per year average these jobs are what
used to be known in the 1980's as the " Pink Ghetto"
jobs mainly for women with no upward movement. The jobs
the Economic Development conference is attracting are
low paying that are not worth the space to do in New York
or Boston and the next place to move them is overseas.
How about bringing jobs that will support families on
one income that are not government make-work created for
someone's idiot nephew.
Fidelity is playing the State of Rhode Island like fools
so did FleetBoston look how much money with their operations
the state give them money to bring in jobs that pay only
$20,000 per year and then they pull the headquarters out
of Providence. The Eminate Domain issue is the worst nightmare
for this state it will set a horrible precedent for the
state. The message if you do not do what the state wants
they will shut you down and give you pennies on the dollar.
Next send some of your representatives to talk with Mayor
Lee Brown of Houston or the city council they will show
you how to attract business. Let them talk to business
leaders who know how to get thinks done ethically. The
next stop is send them to Savannah, Georgia or Charleston,
South Carolina to see a real container port.
The last issue is start is, you ran as a Republican stay
with the party line, where politicians do they have no
trouble attracting companies and jobs.
I will give you credit for your handling of The Station
Fire. On creating jobs 1st quarter of this year 0 created
5000 needed for this year. Please count only jobs that
only pay above the national average these are the jobs
that help our overall economy. A way to know if you are
succeeding is when the number of parents with young children
staying home goes up and they can afford their own home
not living in a "triple decker" the other way
is when more parents can afford to send their children
to private school because the public schools in this state
are so poorly run. Only four schools here pass all the
new mandates. It is time to give the parents the choice
have the school state aid follow the child to whatever
school the parents choose not the National Education Association.
Thank you for your time and good luck with this task.

Hi
John,
I
was listening to your show one day this week and there
was a gentleman you were speaking to in reference to a
Saint (?) school that was having an upcoming function
on May 6th. - there was also something mentioned about
some computer hardware (CD-Roms IF I heard corectly) that
was needed by this school. Could you reply with the name
of the school so I can contact them ? I do have some computer
hardware here and maybe I can help. The phone number would
help also but if that is not possible I can look it up
in a phone book -
Thanks,
A listener - Joe

Sailors/Soldiers/Marines/Airmen |
|
Dear
John
In listening to your program over the course of the past
few months I have noted a lack of consistency in referring
to members of the armed forces. This may not seem like
a big deal to a civilian but to those of us who are serving
or have served it is a major issue.
First of all the individuals the President spoke before
aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln were not "troops"
as you referred to them on today's program. Members of
the Navy are called "sailors", "officers
and crew" or simply "the crew of" the ship
being referred to. Members of the Army are referred to
as "soldiers", "troops" or "troopers".
Marines are "Marines" or "troops".
Marines are never referred to as "soldiers".
The Air Force has "airmen" or "troops"
and the Coast Guard "Coast Guardsmen".
Those who are or who have been members of the armed forces
have their own, less formal names, particularly for members
of other branches. Names that to civilian ears may sound
less than complimentary. However those of who have served
in uniform such slang names are usually expressed with
respect and admiration that no civilian can ever know.
By the way the name of the ship that the President was
aboard on Thursday was the USS Abraham Linclon which also
may be properly referred to as the Lincoln. You referred
to her as the Abraham. Again this might be seen as minor
to a civilian but no one calls a 100,000 ton carrier by
it's first name.

war info |
|
John,
You suggested that weapons of mass destruction might have
been ordered used, but the order was not followed.
According to a friend of a friend, this was true. Our
intelligence had compliance of 5 Iraqi divisions along
the western border --not to join us, but to remain neutral.
Before the campaign!
This was wizer than open mutiny.
This allowed us to march stright up to Baghdad with an
unprotected flank.
These Iraqi divisions received urgent orders from Saddam
to use: weapons of mass destruction.
The orders were ignored, confused, contermanded. So they
must have had weapons of mass destruction at their disposal.
Those weapons cannot be far from where those divisions
were.
What those weapons were doing on the border rather than
around (Baghdad) is anyone's guess. Did we shortstop a
surprise attack by Saddam on a neighbor?
When all is revealed, President Bush will have even greater
stature than he has today. The intelligence work done
for years prior to this campaign will be textbook for
the next century, I am told.
We are witnessing a truly great President in action, something
many people do not get to see in the course of a lifetime.
Amd we are a great country, something that sadly some
people do not believe even now.

The New State Rhode Island Song |
|
John,
I have fun picking on Rhode Island especially when I heard
the governor and the Providence mayor speaking about budgets
and taxes. Are these two for real? When are they going
to look at other states and including the District of
Columbia. I heard on Laura Ingram even Washington D.C.
is going to start giving school vouchers! Mayor Cicciline
spoke about raising revenue through tried and proven unsuccessful
methods of running government. You are in a so called
progressive state how about trying ideas such as smaller
government, contract out services to outside companies,
less interference and lower taxes. One thing Rhode Islanders
have to learn is to stay on there side of the fence they
can wave and be friendly but don't climb the fence. I
enclosed a song that the title fits Rhode Island politics
and government perfectly.
The last line of another song by The Who "Won't Get
Fooled Again" also fits Rhode Island. Meet the new
boss same as the old boss.

IM,
Communist = World Socialist Workers Party - Abject failures
in every way.
Fascist/NAZI= National/Ethnic/Religious Socialist Workers
Party - Far more dangerous as the people overlook the
fatal flaws of socialism in the belief that they are part
of a special group, a brand of Socialism just for them.
This form often appears to function for a time, unlike
communism which has never worked even for a short time.
Examples, Hitler, Stalin, Hussein (Baathist), Mussolini,Pol
Pot, so-called White Supremacists, modern American Liberalism.
All forms of Socialism, all are deadly.
I've lived under them.
Our home grown socialists like to call themselves "Progressives.
What's so "Progressive" about the economic ruin,
torture camps and mass murder that invariably accompanies
socialism wherever and whenever it comes to power?

Bennett and Bush |

heard
a few minutes after Imus and before turned to something
else --Although I agree with some of the things Bill Bennett
has had to say -- I always found him pompous and &
holier-than thou--Rush's cousin. (The brother Bennett
I respect more). As far as I know, he's never stopped
smoking either. Then again, Bush obviously has/ had a
drinking problem , but he's never admitted he is/was an
alcoholic.
P.S. I thought Bush looked like a third rate actor on
the carrier, and as usual, when opened his mouth tacky
"sound bites" were parceled out. (I am only
impressed that he learned to fly a plane, I'd expect that
takes a higher IQ than he has). And of course, getting
into the National Guard showed foresight as it was a safe
place to sit out Vietnam -hard to fathom why he's never
gotten the grief about it that Quayle did? And - as far
as I know, one year of that time is unaccounted for, no
one really knows were he was!

John
Gilman,
I agree whole heartdly with you, it has been since the
Great Depression that the cities have been so much in
social services and any other social enginerring projects
just to create jobs programs to buy votes. The Edge cities
that are growing don't want these type programs and the
are kicking the old cities of the northeast right where
it hurts the wallet and the tax base.

Open Letter |
|
John;
I called your show on Friday 5-2-03 and mentioned that
this country needs to invoke a "Marshal TYPE Plan",
and that I would love to hear a show on Gun Control. You
agreed and I hope you do. Just make it a show of substance
and not a commercial for guns.
Let me just start by saying that about the Party System
we have, they are a big part, if not the whole
1) Dem Party / Rep. Party / Green Party: All of them are
jokes. A person campaigns and makes speeches that appeal
to the populace and indicate that they are on the same
page with them and will represent there beliefs. Once
they hit Washington all bets are off they succumb to the
"Party Line". If they spent the bulk of there
time in there local offices and not in Washington, if
for no other reason then they would be accessible, then
we would have true accountability. While
they are in Washington they do what the Party wants and
not what there constituency wants. All independence is
lost. Keep in mind that we live in the Internet / E-Mail
era and as such a large portion of there work could be
accomplished from there home office.
2) Programs : Yes we need programs the issue is what kind
of programs.
1) Try this one out. A person is on Welfare (full or partial),
whichever, they go to work for there money and accrue
sick time as well as vacation time. There jobs could be
restoring the physical appearance of our communities,
by painting and repairing the dilapidated structures and
start with the schools. This would serve all parties involved
as follows:
a) The aesthetics would be a major improvement.
b) A sense of Community would be restored.
c) People would then have a sense of worth.
NOTE:
Don't forget the School Books and Computers for our schools
(They are a must).
For those properties where the ownership is absent or
does not participate in a meaningful fashion. Then the
Govt. (City / State / Fed) should take it away fix it
up and then auction it off.
These jobs should be run just like a regular job (Time
Cards / Dress) and not have a scarlet letter associated
with them.
2) Our school age ( Jr. & Sr. High) children should
have a summer job guaranteed. They could be working in
Summer Camps, Cleaning Parks, Sr. Centers, Libraries,
Police Precient etc.
3) After school programs should be available. Almost all
schools & churches have gyms, rooms etc. We should
open them up and staff them with students, High School
& College, who would receive credit for there work.
And the centers should be education based, not primarily
sports. Although, there could be teams which compete against
other centers.
4) The Draft should be mandatory. Either you go to College
or go into the Service. Thus providing an incentive to
get a Education. Those in the Svc could patrol our borders
(minimum)
3) Social Conduct: You have to admit that the Social Deterioration
has gone on for 2 - 3 - 4 generations. The sad thing is
that this is not a new phenomenon just a neglected one.
Our future is in our children and as such we must begin
with them.
1) I propose that after the schools are fixed up we should:
a) Do away
with the "Casual Dress" of one of there Role
Models (Teachers). Thus commanding respect from the
students and there parents.
b) All of the liberties which allow for "Porn"
of any category (soft, medium, hard) to be exhorted
in music, TV, Film etc should be banned (period).
2) The Police
should definitely be community based. However, they should.
a) Get out
of there cars and approach kids hanging out on corners
or in front of building. Engage them in conversation
and if necessary move them along
b) Roll down there damn car windows and listen.
c) Make a left or right from the main street, go into
alleys.
d) Walk the streets.
NOTE: If need
be, place "2" officers in a car.
4) Guns in the Neighborhood: Guns control is a joke. True
gun control would be to tell all manufactures. "Listen
nobody is Hunting with a Saturday Night Special so you
cannot produce them any more (period)".
The only people who should have the type of gun used in
street crime are those who are required to have them for
there jobs. If a person wants to teach there family about
guns there are appropriate avenues that could be followed
and if there
are none then they could be written.
Gun shows should be just that, shows, not a place to purchase
a gun. All permits should be issued by the police dept
and you should not be allowed to purchase one until the
background check is completed and the need for the gun
has
been validated.
5) Drugs Alcohol in the Neighborhood: I view this as the
NUMBER ONE DOMESTIC PROBLEM. We should march into all
of the drug producing countries and just render the fields
and processing plants useless. Damn the rationale that
says they have to be converted to a revenue producing
alternative. They had there chances (sounds like the Sadam
Rational) and our society is being threatened (Sadam Again)
and is under attack (Al - Quida). All Alcohol should be
sold in State Stores (not corner stores). Imagine if people
came out of there houses one day and could not get high.
Once they look around they would be shocked at what has
happened to them.
I could go on and on. But let me just end with this. On
the Social Points a person would have to be a fool to
think that a person would want to be in Poverty, live
in Run Down Housing, attend Poor Schools, or go to Jail.
No Mr. DePetro this is the result of a society which places
the almighty dollar in front of all of its decisions.
Because of this practice we know find ourselves in a position
of playing catch up and the only way is for the Govt.
to legislate the types of changes needed. On the Global
Front, where are the Weapons of Mass Destruction, Where
is Sadam, Where is Osama, Where are my Taxes going, where
is Waldo. Is there anyone in Washington who truly represents
the "PEOPLE" and not the special interests.
PS; I am a liberal l and will always be one if for no
other reason than I do not view the ills of society as
the result of people wanting to do the wrong thing or
live in poverty. But that of a certain segment of society
wanting to control the whole economic pie. Therefore,
they blame the less fortunate for there fate. I am willing
to bet you that if you went to every jail in the country
and interviewed every prisoner you would not find 5 who
wanted to be in jail when they grow up. Can a person live
a comfortable life with 5 million must they have all of
the money? STOP MAKING THE RACIAL COMMENTS AND DISCOURAGE
YOUR LISTENERS FROM DOING THE SAME IT SERVES NO PURPOSE.

mayor of Cranston |
|
John,
I listened to the mayor of Providence on your show today.
He seems to be making some positive moves in his city.
I would be interested in hearing what moves the mayor
of Cranston is making. So far, the only major moves he
has made was raise taxes and add a supplemental tax which
is due by the end of May. He claimed to be a financial
expert. Hell, I could've done that. I hope he hasn't gone
into hibernation like Gov. Almond did.

Marshall Plan for the cities? Are you nuts? |
|
John,
I heard with dismay your caller talking about a "Marshall
Plan" for the cities of America.
So after forty years of liberalism being in almost total
control of city governments nationwide, they find themselves
at the bottom of a deep, scary hole.
Well, the first rule when one finds oneself in a hole
is to stop digging.
Perhaps city dwellers might finally come to the realization
that it is liberal policies that have created that hole,
and if they are going to get out of it, they will have
to reject the feel-good do-nothingness of liberalism and
embrace personal responsibility.
After all, who made the cities the way they are? Me and
other people who live far outside the cities? Or the people
who live there and run them?
After over forty years and billions of dollars dumped
down the rathole, perhaps it is time to consider something
different.
I am certainly not going to allow them to keep stealing
from me and flushing the money down the toiletbowl of
the inner city.
I don't work there, don't shop there, don't go there.
Why in hell should I have to pay for their failure to
care for themselves? No wonder they name so many of their
streets after their philosophy, ONE WAY!
The same fool started whining about guns. So typically
liberal. Blame inanimate objects for the failings of their
own culture.
In my culture there are plenty of guns, but there is almost
NO violence. I don't even know anyone from my culture,
other than myself, who has ever been shot at, and that
was long ago, by a person of another culture.
Again, leftists blame everyone and everything else but
themselves for their failures and the failure of their
culture.
Oh, and you can't take away our firearms without repealing
the Constitution, whose Second Amendment has absolutely
nothing to do with hunting but everything to do with America
hating leftists, crooked politicians and enemies of the
Constitution and Republic, both foreign and domestic.
Just for fun, have someone point out one other protected
right, enumerated in the Constitution, (Not granted, the
Constitution does not GRANT anything) that is so absolute
as to be worded, "Shall not be Infringed."
It doesn't say your right to free spech or anything else,
shall not be infringed.
No other right is declared so absolutely as the right
of the citizens to keep and bear arms. Any restriction,
no matter how "reasonable" is much more than
an infringement and therefore, illegal.
Obviously, the first fatal failure of the city culture
is education. How many trillions of dollars have been
wasted by the left on that losing proposition?
When will they stop digging that hole deeper and deeper
with their "self esteem" "whole language"
bilingualism and other B.S. before someone thinks to go
back to the system of the fifties and sixties that worked?
It was based on achievement and personal responsibility.
It sure works in India, who is kicking our butts, with
their education system based on 1950's America.
Want to fix the cities? Look in the mirror to find the
problem.
Disgusted;
John Gillman

Hi John |
|
I
listen daily and thoroughly enjoy your show. I tried to
call today but could not get through. Just wanted to leave
my thoughts about our president, George W. Bush.
I am very proud to call Mr. Bush my president. I am old
enough to remember John F. Kennedy and I was one of those
who mourned his death greatly. My feelings about him however
were influenced by the Kennedy mystique and the circumstances
which included a young family, a handsome president etc.
A lot of emotional issues came into play. My feelings
and thoughts about Mr. Bush are not influenced by emotional
issues. I think of him as a pure and simple man. He believes
in God and I believe he is influenced by that belief.
He has a strong sense of right and wrong, he has strong
convictions and has the courage of those convictions.
He indeed is my HERO.

minimum wage versus freebies |
|
I
was asked to attend a Section 8 Rhode Island Housing and
Mortgage conference via a friend. One of the Section 8
tenants, a black woman, sat on the board of the conference,
representing Section 8 tenants. She said that she and
her friends waited for years to get into Section 8 Housing
in Rhode Island because the waiting list is so long and
that she and her friends planned to live forever in their
Section 8 apartment because the housing was in okay condition.
My friend, who also happened to be a black landlord from
South Providence, and I both practically fell to the floor
in amazement. First, why priortize getting into Section
8 housing "for years" when you should be trying
to get ahead economically during that interim and not
wasting "years" getting into Section 8 housing
and second, what's with this "live there forever??",
ie: no ambition to leave?
My friend and I assumed section 8 was to be for disabled
or else for temporary purposes to enable people to get
onto their feet and move on. This is taxpayer money. What
kind of entitlement attitudes are being taught to the
"go slows" in this state? They think they should
be handed a cheap apartment forever instead of getting
up and working like everyone else??
This black spokesperson looked able-bodied to us. (Maybe
her mind had gone), but she was hand-picked to represent
Section 8 tenants by Rhode Island Housing and Mortgage,
so if she could talk herself into a representative position
there, one would think she could talk herself into a good
job.

French's Mustard |

The

"We at the French\'s Company wish to put an end to
statements that our product is manufactured in France.
There is no relationship, nor has there ever been a relationship,
between our mustard and the country of France. Indeed,
our mustard in manufactured in Rochester, NY.
The
only thing we have in common is that we are both yellow".

Re: Hello 4/29/03 |
|
Bill,
Oscar Wilde stated, "We know the price of everything and
the value of nothing." You definitely do not know the
value of the property. Fidelity is cutting operations
down in the north east and moving most of the better paying
jobs to Arlington, TX for those who don't know where that
is, it is between Dallas an Fort Worth a nice area. J.C.
Penny's is not that far away in Plano,TX. If you want
to create good paying jobs, not just get jobs that have
office space that is to expensive in New York or Boston.
We have to start by changing the laws here to encourage
companies to set up shop. It does not matter what there
business does as long as they are legal, moral and pay
decent wages. What I consider decent wages is anything
above the national average. Governor Ciceiri hoodwinked
the state with his promise to create 20,000 jobs how many
will be typical Rhode Island jobs paying around $30-45K
these are below the national average. How many families
have Grandma watching the grandchildren while both parents
work and they still make less than 80K per year. 80K is
a nice salary for a family not both people working that
just get you the basics. Rhode Island companies are basically
cheap or so strained to pay their people well. One example
nurses here are making what nurses were making in Alexandria,
VA when I was assigned in the military their 13 years
ago. It is time to get with the program and pay the national
wage or you will not have medical professionals or other
professions. How many peddlers and Dunkin Donuts do we
need here these jobs do not pay the bills.

Our Rhode Island taxpayers' business partner,
Vincent Mesolella |
|
Your
comments April 30th about Vinnie Mesolella were right
on target. So why does the state want to be partners with
this guy when they can do the Providence convention hotel
by themselves and save splitting the money? does Vinnie
have a convenient Swiss bank account or something?
Check out the PRO JO, dated 5/21/97 and see what Vincent's
former business partners said about him in court. Reporter
Gerald M. Carbone wrote " a seven-year old lawsuit
againt Mesolella, one of R.I.'s most influential politicians...was
filed by two former business partners, who allege that
Mesolella took their land by recording a deed on which
their signatures had been forged...
Mesolella and two business partners formed a corporation
called Royal Redemption(23 acres of woods rising from
a residential section of North Smithfield).
Mesolella's partners were Alan Musumeci(Mesolella's cousin)
and Russell Pascetta.
...his lawyer, Joseph G. Miller, declined to comment

Now Jack Reed attacks the Constitution |
|
Independent Man, We've got a near monopoly
on anti-Constitutional communists/Nazis here in RI. Now
Jack the Commie Reed is getting into the act by teaming
up with Lautenburg of New Jersey to impose Nazi like gun
restrictions and registration of gunowners in direct opposition
of the Founding Fathers ideals and the Constitution of
the United States which he has sworn to protect, not destroy.
Hey, if gun control and registration
works, then why does Washington DC, where guns are OUTLAWED
ENTIRELY, have a continual murder rate INCREASE of around
a hundred and thirty per cent annually while crime in
the rest of the country continues to drop as the right
to carry weapons is recognized and liberalized?
He and everybody else who supports that
kind of legislation are just absolutely wrong, There is
no empirical basis for gun control, and the only reason
you could be advocating it is because you must have the
same objectives that the Nazis had. Gary FMCDH
