Dear John,

Much thanks to you and Arlene for having me on. I noticed on tonight's news, I beat Ronald Reagan and the car jackers for top story. Crazy as I may be, I am good for ratings (lol).

I did notice, however, that you never mentioned the very nice Ronald Reagan email, from Democrats no less, I forwarded to you from the DLC. If both parties would strive to be more like him, we'd all be better off.

Have a great night

June 11 Genocide, slavery, and children being starved to death goes unaddressed by disinterested USA
reply

John:

Why aren't we hearing more about this from a President concerned with "stopping evil doers"...or does he not consider perpetrators of genocide, mass rape, child starvation, amputations, decapitations, and reinstitution of the slave trade -- "evil doers"? (See story below.) I hope RIers will join to help via contributions to WorldVision or UNICEF. What a sad, awful mess...

Hundreds of Thousands of Parents Slaughtered, Tens of Thousands of Women Raped, Slave Trade Reinstituted, and Now, Every Child under Five Is Facing Death

One Million Homeless as Helicopters Gun Down Fleeing Refugees

http://news.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=658342004
(GETHIN CHAMBERLAIN on the Sudan/Chad border)

Key points
• Warning no Sudanese refugee child under 5 will survive 6 months • Around 300,000 dead and 1m driven from their homes by conflict in Darfur • Conditions in refugee camps deteriorating, disease outbreaks expected

Key quote
"There is a lack of interest from some main donors, maybe because these people do not have diamonds in the ground or oil" - Jean-Charles Dei, deputy director of the UN World Food Programme in Chad

Story in full NOT a single Sudanese child refugee under the age of five will be alive in six months unless there is immediate and dramatic international intervention, a senior United Nations official warned yesterday.

Hundreds of thousands of refugees have poured over the border from Sudan into Chad in the past few months, driven out by a genocidal campaign against black African inhabitants of the Darfur region.

Many are living in makeshift shelters, unable to get into established refugee camps, facing the constant threat of attack from the government-backed Janjaweed militias that have burned villages, killed thousands of people, raped women and girls and taken young children as slaves.

The UN has described the situation in Darfur - where something in the region of a million people have been driven from their homes and estimates have placed the potential death toll at 300,000 - as the world's worst humanitarian crisis, and the imminent arrival of the rainy season threatens to trigger a fresh catastrophe among the refugees who have sought shelter in Chad.

Aid experts estimated that around a quarter of the refugees in Chad would die before the end of the year unless aid could be put in place before the imminent rains begin in earnest.

That figure includes 38,600 children under the age of five and 10,000 other vulnerable people, including pregnant women.

It's believed 25,000 would suffer severe malnutrition.

Yesterday, the deputy director of the UN World Food Programme in Chad, Jean-Charles Dei, warned that the rains would make roads impassable for aid lorries bringing in food, leading to malnutrition and ultimately starvation for thousands of the refugees. He said the rains would also bring inevitable outbreaks of disease, including cholera and measles.

"There will be a tragedy if nothing happens," Mr Dei said. "I don't think any of the children under the age of five will make it, and the pregnant women too. For those who are under five there is no chance. They will die from starvation."

The UN has appealed, so far unsuccessfully, for more than $30 million before the end of this year to prevent a catastrophe. UNICEF, which alone says it needs $1.6 million to tackle the immediate crisis, has warned that with the rainy season about to start in earnest, the situation is now critical.

Aid agencies working with refugees along the border say that about 200,000 people have crossed into Chad, driven from their homes in the Darfur region of Sudan by the murderous onslaught of the Janjaweed militia, backed by Sudanese government forces, including jets and helicopters, which have bombed villages. The influx has overwhelmed the existing resources and appeals for fresh financial assistance to buy food and medicines have been unsuccessful.

The World Food Project has been able to move less than a third of the food needed to sustain the refugees in the established camps.

Other refugees are gathered in small groups strung out along a 400-mile stretch of border and, once the rains arrive, they will be entirely cut off from further aid.

In the southern region, where the rains have already started and roads are becoming difficult to negotiate, there is enough food stockpiled to last two months, although the rains can last six months.

In the central region and in the north, the stockpiles are expected to last only one month, even if there is not another influx of refugees across the border. In those regions, the rains can last for three or four months.

The situation is worst in the Bahai region in the north, on the edge of the Sahara desert, where thousands of refugees are camped out without proper shelter or access to water or food.

The UN estimates that there are 105,600 refugees who have been moved into camps and 28,400 who have made their own way from the holding areas on the border into the camps, but that another 59,700 are scattered along the border.

An outbreak of cholera, which is endemic during the rainy season, would kill thousands of refugees cut off from medical assistance.

The rains will also bring mosquitoes and malaria, and there are serious concerns about the possibility of an outbreak of the deadly ebola virus.

Aid workers report that attacks on the refugees have continued, with regular cross-border incursions by the Janjaweed - Arab fighters who attack on horseback or on camels - into Chad.

Mr Dei said the situation was desperate. He explained: "We don't have food in the pipeline. We have no money, we have nothing."

He said that, despite talk of a ceasefire between the Sudanese government and rebel groups opposed to the Khartoum regime, the killing and looting were continuing because people were still coming across the border daily.

"We still need strong intervention, peacekeeping troops, monitors to stop the Janjaweed coming over the border, but if there is no money and no resources, nothing can be done."

Aid agencies despair about the lack of international assistance to prevent a greater humanitarian disaster, blaming the focus on Iraq and a lack of public awareness for the shortage of funds.

"There is a lack of interest from some main donors, maybe because these people do not have diamonds in the ground or oil," Mr Dei said.

"There is a saying: the best political friend is an economic friend. But this disaster can be avoided. We just need to act now."

Cyrille Niameogo, the UNICEF representative in Chad, said that, apart from malnutrition, disease was also a serious danger.

"We have no money, and without money we will not be able to immunise children, and they will be exposed to diseases and a lot of them will die," he said. "There will be no safe drinking water and there will be cholera, and that is the problem."
He said UNICEF, which has appealed for $1.6 million in urgent aid and a total of $6.8 million by the end of the year, needed money to buy vaccines, especially the measles vaccine. "That is the most important disease to control, because otherwise it will kill many children," Mr Dei said. "We haven't got the money - if we have the money we can get them in 48 hours. If we don't get money people will die. The situation in Bahai is terrible. This is the critical period."

Rebel leaders have warned that they will attempt to take the fight to the Sudanese government if the ceasefire is not respected.

Hassam Khamees, one of the leaders of the new National Movement for Reform and Development, said that, despite the attempts by the rebel groups to protect those villagers remaining in Darfur, attacks were continuing.

"They burn the villages in Darfur and they have attacked across the border into Chad," he said. "Civilians are suffering in Darfur, and women and children are dying every day. Always they are attacking."

Speaking in the Chadian capital, N'Djamena, he said: "There is disease and movement of refugees and there are no medicines.

"Even in Chad there are no doctors and the rainy season will cause more problems. In 15 to 20 days' time, people will be dying; we think 7,000 or 8,000 people in the refugee camps."

Mr Khamees said the depopulation of rural Darfur was almost complete, with refugees fleeing into Chad and Libya to escape the killing and into the main towns in the region to throw themselves on the mercy of their relatives.

He accused the Sudanese government of attempting to turn the conflict into a religious war. "The government is saying that the black Africans are Christians.
"Maybe they think that the Arabs are more religious, but I think we are all Sudanese. I am a Muslim and everyone is Muslim in Darfur. This is genocide, racist genocide."

He warned that attempts by the Sudanese government to suppress dissent in Darfur would backfire.

"They are facing a big problem because we have the power to reach Khartoum," he said.

"Because of the civilian suffering, we ask for a political solution, but the Sudanese government don't want that."

He added: "If there is no solution we can attack Khartoum. We will only stop war if we get our rights."

Bush Camp: LA Times Poll Loaded with Dems

The Bush campaign is accusing the Los Angeles Times of loading up its latest presidential survey with Democrats in order to show Sen. John Kerry with a 51 to 44 percent lead.

"Be very careful in reporting Los Angeles Times poll," Bush strategist Matthew Dowd warned ABC News. "It is a mess."

"Bush is leading independents by three, ahead among Republicans by a larger margin than Kerry is ahead among Dems, and we are down by seven," Dowd said, noting the math doesn't add up.

Calling the distortion "outrageous," he accused the Times of oversampling Democrat by a margin of 10 to 12 percent."

June 11 Reagan's Character
reply

As I watched the ceremony of Pres. Reagan's death I can't help but feel a sense of loss for a man who generated such hope and purpose all under the proud leadership for American Patriotism. It was his character...perhaps bestowed by God and cultivated by his own merits that I remember the most.

In his death he gave the gift of optimism and Godism with his own perso
nal touch fueled by his quick wit and desire to serve his Nation. As David stood before the towering Giant...his bravery recorded for all to read...so too did Reagan stand with the same spirit...God Bless you Ronald Reagan please continue to look out for us...and if you the time please help our state of Rhode Island rid itself of all the selfish and evil doers.

reply

Hi John, I am a non-Union classified management City of Warwick employee. I was unable to call your show today as I was working. Please correct all of your callers tomorrow if possible about some misconceptions by the public. While City of Warwick employees do receive health care benefits (which we greatly appreciate), we do pay office co-pays ranging from $10-$15 per doctor's visit. We also pay $25 co-pays for emergency room visits and 20% of our prescription drugs. The new co-pay is for the actual health insurance coverage, but we have been paying co-pays for these other services all along. Unfortunately, the general public feels that the city employees get everything free! This is ridiculous, and we would have appreciated your looking into this matter before callers started spreading mistruths and exaggerations. Thank you. A hardworking, dedicated, and appreciative City of Warwick non-union classified management employee of 19 years.

I am equally appalled by this so-called man's actions regarding the flag at City Hall not being properly displayed as we paid tribute to our brave troops (at the same time it was requested to be lowered out of respect for the recent passing of Ronald Reagan). If he'd been a Latino, democrat or even illegal alien I'm sure the Mayor would have bent over backwards to accommodate him. But then again he was inflicted upon us by a bunch of invaders who know nothing about this once great country. By the way, when is Leon Tejada appearing on your show to defend his outrageous bill supporting in-state tuition for illegals? I'd love to hear him and Tony from NP in a heated exchange.

June 9 warwick taxes/teachers
reply

John,

I tried to talk to you today when you had Mayor Avedesian on, but my cell kept cutting out. Regarding Warwick teachers...

I have 3 children in three different schools in this over taxed city and it is absolutely true that the vast majority are refusing to take the kids on field trips, participate in any activity that they do not get paid for ie: open house, chaperoning dances. I have a good friend that is a teacher in this city and she volunteered to chaperone the Toll Gate senior prom because the other teachers refused to. Teachers did after school clubs, sports, etc. only if that teacher had a paid position, such as a coach for a sporting team. (They get paid to coach, to cover an extra class, to do bus duty in the junior high and high schools, etc.. otherwise the club or activity was not done) It'a disgusting and shameful.

How about having Sue Stenhouse on your program? Kudos to her for suggesting teachers do not deserve the retro-active pay, when and if, they settle this ridiculous contract.

It would seem the gloves are off and elected officials spouses are fair game.... where do we start?!

Mrs. Harwood, Mrs. Montanaro, Mrs. Raptakis, Mrs. Williamson, Mrs. MacNamara, Mrs. McBurney, Mrs Montalbano, Mrs Nevola....

This could turn very interesting....

Did the Dems really think they could pull this off just days from the declaration to run date and Gov. Carcieri was going to decide not to run...

Nothing could be funnier than Chairman Lynch denying "his" party had nothing to do with this...or has Chairman Lynch lost control of his party?

If Bobby O. was getting emails from the legislators encouraging this behavior in reply to his mass email than who does Lynch think he is kidding...Bobby never said he got any condeming the email.

If the fact Bill Lynch did not sanction this than maybe Guy Default did as part of the million dollar union scheme to let the public know that the unions are the "good guys"....you know the deal...where all the hard working union folks had to pony up to the register and put their hard earned money in the drawer to fund this extravaganza headed by Default to go after Carcieri and Laffey.

My daddy told be a long time ago that you always need to look for the story behind the story...

This appears to be a tale too good to miss....

and if Bobby from Newport thought that going after Sue Carcieri was going to be easy I believe he is in for a surprise...this is one hard as nails, smart, classy woman...I can't wait to see what happens when she finds the right moment to strike! Hang onto your hats boys this could be a bumpy ride...You go Sue!!!!!

What a disgrace this hateful clown is.
You think maybe he's a union wanker??? uh huh!!
I bet you he has a Frank "Thuggles" Montenaro doll on his bed that he cuddles with every night. hahahaha
BTW John, please take a look at the ProJo coverage of this story and compare it to Jim Baron and the Times. The ProJo doesn't even attempt to hide their anti-Carcieri agenda. No surprise there!!

First, I have to tell you that I really don't appreciate the way you manipulate my calls. at 12:30 when you went to break you talked to Bobby O'Livera about my call and my accusition, I can read lips and I watched Bobby and his scheaming mind as he was digging into the conversation we had thinking of one item where he could dis-credit me with it. You made him successful, you gave him a big hurrah on Frank Sr. the transplant here, the guyt from the Mid-West. You disliked me since I stood up for life in defending the Chris Young who ran against the Gay Mayor, with the special Flag hanging above his city hall, the Mayor you backed, you know the one who is forcing Homosexuality on the city and the state.

You my friend are a champion, you can be likened to Bobby O'Livera in that when you have a dislike or a vendetta against someone you make sure you put them down every chance you get.

I have to say I am GLAD that I have made Rhode Island my home for less than two years. I am now brushing the dust from my feet as I leave this state.

I have no regrets

p.s. Thanks again for cutting me off!

June 9 Re: Sue Carcieri's connections to the fringe right

I hope everyone is paying attention to what happened today on your show John. While it goes without saying that Mr. Oliveira is blatantly liberal, I think he accomplished exactly what he set out to do. As Democrat after Democrat called in to your show, if you listened carefully, Bobby knew exactly what he was doing. I'm a Republican/Independent. My views vary but I have specific cores. Mr. Oliveira, by being as extreme as he could so that this could be seen by the public, got Democrats both in office, out of office, and those who just vote, to get riled up and call in. Not an hour after Bobby left the station, the head of the Democratic Party in this state called in to "apologize". I believed he used "unequivocally" at least half a dozen times. This wasn't a Republican or Independent making a ruckus about the issues or goings on in this state, it was a "liberal" Democrat. The opportunity immediately presented itself for all of the majority within Rhode Island to get involved, and all they have to say is "Bobby Oliviera's not one of us." This isn't a conspiracy theory, the Democrats in this state just got a reason to show the public what being a Democrat is about, and how the perception of someone like Mr. Oliveira will make sure that the "right" Democrats get elected in November. This one was way too easy, everybody. Think about how fast it took for everyone to get pissed off. Think about Jim Lynch calling in. I'm praying now that the Republicans in this state start getting it together. If we don't get the House and Senate under at least a 60/40 split, our "tax-hell" status will be only one of many problems that are not going away, and everyone should stop complaining about the way things are done around this state, because it's not going to change until we get out and do it ourselves.

reply

Dear John,

I was only able to hear a short segment of today's show.

As a member of Opus Dei for 19 years, if you had any questions or would like now or in the future to discuss Opus Dei, I would be happy to talk on the phone or in studio.

You may recognize my name, I am a regular contributor to the Religion Page of the Providence Journal and author of the book The Gender Agenda: Redefining Equality. I was one of the regulars on Mary Ann Sorrentino's old TV show.

The popularity of The DaVinci Code has made Opus Dei notorious. Unfortunately, many people can't distinguish reality from fiction, or recognize anti-Catholicism when they see it.

I don't know Sue Carcieri personally, but since members and cooperators of Opus Dei are active in the Catholic church in Rhode Island, it would not surprising if she were seen in their company.

Sincerely,
Dale O'Leary

Dear Mr. Depetro:

Thank you for bringing this dreadful, dreadful email to our attention.

I am just listening right now to the Democrat hack and his attacks on Opus Dei and his absolutely mistaken statement that the Catholic Church has been against abortion for only 150 years.

You are doing a great job answering this jerk.

Perhaps you could bring on a member of Opus Dei--I know several and there are NOT anti-semitic. This is definitely NOT an anti-Semitic organization. Perhaps also you could have someone explain the long history of the pro-life position of the Catholic Church.

Thank you, Mr. Depetro, for the grand work you do.

June 8 Sue Carcieri's connections to the fringe right
reply

Dear Member of the General Assembly,

Normally, a anti-choice fundraiser held at the Carcieri home would not draw much attention. However, the one coming up in a few weeks includes the following elements:

1. Ms. D'Vidio. You remember her. "We had the station fire due to the gay people in our state." At the time, Sue Carcieri said nothing.

2. Elements of Christo Rey. When they openly called for the killing of abortion doctors last year, Sue Carcieri said nothing. When they recently held an event featuring an anti-Semetic speaker, Sue Carcieri said nothing. What do you think we will find when we investigate the number of Jewish folks currently working for the Administration?

3. Elements of Opus Dei. Since I was trained by the Jesuits, I find this most disgusting. They don't even like the Pope.

Venda Ravioli is supposed to provide the food. Once the facts of life are explained to them, we'll see about that. Perhaps crashing, protesting is boring, is in order. Perhaps, if highly motivated, some members of the gay community, angered by Rep. Moffitt's "rally", can engage in some type of "activity" on the Carcieri's front lawn.

Again, just pro-life is bad enough. Christo Rey, who some legislators know, and Opus Dei put it over the top. Sue Carcieri is a member of the fringe right. No other explanation is acceptable.

Therefore, she should be treated as such. The following actions are advisable:

1. Defund her office at the Statehouse and " $50,000 shopping bag carrier".

2. Contact Big Sisters. Let them know that Sue Carcieri is no role model. Stepford wife with Nazi tendencies, yes, role model, no.

3. I know in the past I've said it would be great to rid ourselves of McHugh (god, he's got Carcieri blood - reason enough to run him off the map), Reilly and Cote. I have a new idea. We can play around with them in our own reindeer games later.

Sen. Kerry should put up a 70 in our state. Even Mayor Laffey has to take 1/3 of the Kerry vote to survive. (Note to Mike Sepe, this year's message: Laffey is Bush, Bush is Laffey)

Like the old bull said, let's walk down the hill and get them all. We've won 4 off-year elections in a row. The Governor's message was rejected in Tiverton. Even South Kingstown came around. Let's leave just two: Rep. Trillo and Sen. Bates. Other than that, in an amazing show of unity, auld lang syne. Forget transgressions, remember instead what the GOP did in Colorado and Texas. Forget silly Committee votes, remember how "W" called us unpatriotic.

I cannot think of a better way to remind Sue Carcieri that when she lies down with dogs, she gets fleas.

Have a great night
Bobby Oliveira

I look forward to hopefully being able to tell more of this story. The e-mail:

Mr. Cicilline,

You have now lost my entire respect sir, including humane respect. You are a filthy lying scoundrel and a lying contemptuous fraud. You would go through the process of allowing the prosecution and the persecution of this citizen and do so with full knowledge of its fraudulence. You spend the money incurred in doing so and then have the unmitigated gall to say “we cannot afford a new flag” to show proper deference and respect to my country, damn you.

Then you go throughout the process of adding your "pride" flag upon the mast at city hall, and lower the despicable remnant of my American Flag, but not change it in accord with the requirements set forth in our (MY) constitution regarding our Flag. Have you been in public service (bullshitting the populous to get the vote) for so long sir that the education of the Constitution of the United States of America has been left by the wayside by yourself? Where in the name of God is your mind? You would so disrespect my National symbol of why our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, etc.... are dying every day and in such an egregious, facetious and malfeasant manner, damn you sir.

When I mention that an 83 year old man wants to die, because his country has changed to the point that to him it no longer makes since and it is not his country, not the country that he fought for, I get an extremely careless and insensitive "who gives a shit about that 83 year old", we will change our flag if and when we get to it, damn you sir.

I promise you sir, you are a one term mayor and your administration will end in disgrace, I promise you this on the soul of my daughter Stepanie, who your police department wrongfully took from me, and you have my word as a man on that.

I demand your immediate attention to my Flag flying above your office building, and I will not accept one more of your bullshit stories from your staff, damn you, be a MAN and take care of your duties for which you swore you would, or was that a lie also.

I don't give a rat's ass if you keep your "pride" flag upon your office building, so f_____g what. I will end this edict with a reiteration that I demand you immediately affix a proper and Constitutionally correct Flag of The United States of America well above your "pride" flag, as I think that my fellow American's dying at war takes a monstrous precedence of your sexual preference and your pride in it.

I also demand you contact your "Best Police Chief in America" Colonel Esserman and tell him that his patrolman telling me today, "yea, yea, we will get to it when we can and you can only see the PR rep for the building by appointment only that if he were in my employ, he would be fired on the spot for disgustingly standing in a police station and in a uniform of a public servant, telling a citizen “so what” when he is asked to assist in getting attention paid to the miserable flag flying outside his office building.

What in God's name are you doing sir? A capitol city mayor in my USA blatantly tells visitors, by a picture that your major concern is the pride of homosexuality and not the Flag you swore by to honor, my Flag. I stopped an Austrian couple this afternoon in your city and asked them if in Vienna they would tolerate what you have done, and they vehemently and seriously demanded that would not happen in Vienna, Austria. His point: “a demonstration of a personal issue demonstrated by the mayor and done so with complete disrespect for the Flag he swore to defend when sworn in, does not deserve to be a public servant”. I 110% agree with him.

In closing I hereby demand as a Patriot, a Veteran (yea yea if but only for 2 years), an American that you address the replacement of my Flags flying above your office building and your pfffff Police Chief's office building and that the demand be carried out immediately regardless of the cost to the city.

Thank you in advance for immediate attention to this matter.

June 8 Soprano's
reply

I know today is a sad day with the passing of President Regan (which I am thinking of going to Washington, flights are only $192.00 round trip).

And, I hate to show you this as well, but right off the channel ten website. The Soprano's won't be back on for another 18 months. Sorry, I loved the show too.

After Season Of Setbacks, Tony Soprano Bounces Back

POSTED: 7:13 am EDT June 7, 2004

NEW YORK -- In the season finale of "The Sopranos," Tony pulls together all the loose ends that seemed to have his mob family unraveling. He personally does in cousin Tony B -- to avert a mob war.

And rival mob boss Johnny Sack was busted by the FBI, as Tony ran for the woods.

You'll have to do without "The Sopranos" for awhile. Star James James Gandolfini and the rest of the gang are taking a break.

The final 10 episodes of "The Sopranos" will air on HBO starting in about 18 months.

June 8 Thoughts on Reagan
reply

John,

As a liberal who was young at the time of Reagan I was one of his critics. Now, as I reflect on his terms in office, perhaps his biggest black mark may have helped his greatest success. I think illegally funding the wars in South America had more profound an effect on the USSR than his "Evil Empire" statement. He showed the USSR that, not matter what, he was going to fight communism. I am positive that directly correlates to the escalated arms race which ultimately bankrupted the Soviets.

He was right. And he won the Cold War.

Hi John,

I have been listening to your show for years now and have actually called in a couple of times. The reason I am writing concerns all the news surrounding gravestone decorations. I co-own (with my brothers) a company in Attleboro, Ma. called A. Luongo & Sons, Inc.

We do metal stamping and machining, mostly for the electronics industry. Earlier this year we started producing and selling products to help people decorate their headstones without placing anything on the ground. The products are sold under the name Headstoneware.

We make flower pot holders, cut flower holders, flag holders and wreath hangers. Everything is made from heavy gage stainless steel and can be attached to the stone without tools.

I designed the pieces myself and we make them right here in Attleboro. There are patents pending on the standard pieces, but we are now accepting requests for custom fabrications from people with odd shaped stones or who want to hold something different on the stone.

Our website www.headstoneware.com. will show you everything I have described. I just figured I would contact you seeing how this is becoming a hot topic lately and there really aren't a lot of options out there for people. Our products are not some made in China piece of junk. They are stainless steel and fabricated to last. Why would someone want to put plastic or some other cheaper material on a stone they have paid thousands for? The idea was born from necessity as are most. My wife was always asking me to make her something to hold this and that for her Mom's grave and we went from there.

Just thought you should know that there is an option out there for people rather than putting anything in the ground.

Keep up the great work,
Frank Luongo

June 3 RE:casino suggestion
reply

Dear John:

I listen to you often. A friend of mine had a suggestion. How about a floating casino, similar to the casino ships they have in Florida that go out just beyond three miles. Riverboat casinos on the Mississipi barely have to leave the dock, from what I hear.

Just a suggestion. I am sure there are logistical problems, but they could use Quonset harbor perhaps.

I would of course look forward to any ideas you have concerning this.

June 3 Cumberland 5.2% Tax Hell Increase
reply

Town Council,

Thanks for throwing another log on the fire here in "Tax Hell" Rhode Island!

I've recently retired and my wife will retire next year. Your 5.2% increase is five times what we can get from money market accounts and nearly triple current CD rates! It’s outrageous and adds to an already crushing state & local tax burden.

You should be ashamed of yourselves.

If you’re trying to force people like us out of Cumberland and Rhode Island, you’re doing a good job, we’ll be leaving as soon as possible.

Most Sincerely,
Ev Cowan

JOHN, FLOYD, DAY AND THE OTHER TWO COHORTS, THAT TOOK THE LIVES OF TWO TOTALLY INNOCENT, PROMISING, YOUNG PEOPLE THAT WERE JUST OUT FOR A NIGHT ON THE TOWN. ALL FOUR OF THEM DON'T DESERVE TO DRAW ANOTHER BREATHE OF AIR ON THIS EARTH. AS FAR AS THE INDIANS ARE CONCERNED, THERE WAS A CALLER THAT YOU SPOKE TO ABOUT THE ISSUE OF THE INDIANS AND JOB FAIRS HE WAS IMPRESSIVE WITH HIS VIEWS AND CONCLUSIONS..... I WISH THE INDIANS LUCK WITH THERE FUTURE ENDEAVORS BUT AT THIS POINT I THINK THEY WON'T BE ROLLING DICE OR DEALING CARDS IN IN THE NEAR OR VERY DISTANT FUTURE THEY SHOULD SIGN A PEACE TREATY WITH GOVERNOR CARCIERI. MOVE ON TO SOMETHING THAT WILL BENEFIT THE TRIBE INSTEAD OF WASTING TIME WITH THIS NONSENSE ABOUT A CASINO....

June 3 "Dear John"
reply

I listen every day. Can't or seldom can I call…

My question is this,
Is it even numerically possible for this state to support a two party system. Has our socialist, single party ways led the population to be so beholding to Union, Government jobs, State Pensions, and all sorts of welfare, made it impossible for a Republican Party, or any other party to thrive or be valid?

Maybe numerically it’s just not possible, with retired state workers, retired city workers, retired town workers, present State, City, and Town workers, there friends, there relatives, and Union working friends. What about the immigrants who vote Democratic? The scared older white haired Kennedy supporters. Who all live in Rhode Island until they die.

Maybe it’s just not possible to hope for change.

Should Rhode Island even continue to be a State, because of the fact that Rhode Island is a Socialist State and has no hope of change, should RI surrender it’s Statehood?

I wonder how many good hard working, independent famillies in this State are planning on leaving in the next 3 to 5 years? Should you give them a chance to call and be heard?

Anyway …Thanks for listening.

disabled providence fireman, collecting 3500 a month tax free, while quahogging and lobstering daily, while enduring a "bad back". john lombardi wrote an article in the projo criticizing these public servants, then backed down when asked what action is being taking, stating i don't want to get involved. Jim Taricani was interested in doing the story, but did not have the resources to enter the bay. who is big enough to the end this public display of fraud? the disability pension is a private one, but does this make it right? does anyone care? then again, this is rhode island.
